ROTA Rims

I have a 97 civic 2 dr coupe with b20/vtec. I am going to get rota rims in 15s, but I need to know what are the best size tires to get for a daily driver, best acceleration, best handling and all season. I guess the size would be 15, but the side wall and width etc. With the specific tire size, what rims size would I need to get in order to fit that tire size.

for good handling you want low profile tires. for your application (97 civic) the ideal size would be 195/50/R15

for better straight line traction (under hard acceleration) you want a taller profile tire. go with 205/50/R15. even though it is also a 50 profile, it is 50% of 205, instead of 50% of 195.

you can also try to find a 195/55/R15 tire, which would give a little of both (straight-line traction and handling). actually, that size is the recommended 15" tire size for your civic.

Any temperature below 45 you will have to do a burnout to warm the azenis up. Also they will go absolutly no where in the snow. I was lazy and didn't change my snow tires by the first snow storm this year. I had to tow my crx around with my truck and then push the crx sicne it would go no where at all.

i would have to say 205 no matter what, not just straight line. i don't know anyone running a 195 for better handling. you can get the slipstreams in 15x7 which would be a little better than the 15x6.5.

the JDM motorports crx's (worldspeed challenge champion cars) use 195/50/15's i know because i watched them win and was able to get a close look at the cars.

I got 15 x 6.5. What would the problems be if i ran them with the 205 tires instead, since some of you guys recommended the 15 x 7? Also would those tire sizes keep my rpms accurate?

PS too bad i don't have winter tires just some huge 17s on some new federal tires with warrenty.

your speedometer will be slightly off. there's no problem puting them on 15x6.5's

its not that much of a diff. i wouldn't worry about it

I'm using 195/50/15 on my Rota subzero's and I have had no problems

looking at 195/50/15 , 205/50/15 , 195/55/15 , the differences are so minute that I doubt it could make that big a difference.

The difference in Width of a 205 vs. 195 is 10mm ~ .39in

difference in sidewall hieght
195/50 = 48.75mm ~ 1.91in
205/50 = 51.25mm ~ 2.01in
195/55 = 53.62mm ~ 2.11in

from a 195/50 to a 205/50 it's a difference of 2.5mm or ~ .1in
from a 205/50 to a 195/55 it's a difference of 2.37mm ~ .1in
from a 195/50 to a 195/55 it's a difference of 4.875mm ~ .2in

so in my eyes it's personal prefference.

I preffer the smaller sidewall so I use the 195/50/15

Thanks for all the help guys. Another question what is the offset of a rim mean? What does it do and what is best for my overall application. Also what does the R mean on 205/50/R15
