I bought this car off a friend. He has had the car for quite a few years, but I didn't know a whole lot about it.. not thinking it was anything special. So, when I went to look at it and take it for a ride I stopped and looked under the hood, obviously. It looked clean, sounded good, at quick inspection didn't seem to be leaking, it looked like a normal DPFI D15B2 or w/e is supposed to come in a 90 DX. I buy it. About a week later I go over and get all the goodies that came extra (EF9 sir seats,d16z6 head, etc) and he is telling me how this car has some JDM Vtec motor in it. He is a bit of a talker sometimes so I thought he was bullshitting me and procceded to start to call him out. I mean it is DPFI manifold and all. Well, we cleaned the stamp of and it is a D15B with no other number. I know there was a DPFI D15B that came in an old Japanese 88 Civic/CRX and was obviously non vtec. Here is the weird thing, there is a block off plate on the head where a seleniod should be. It's probably just be the non vtec DPFI, but why would it be like this? I wouldn't think an OBD1 MPFI could run with the DPFI manifolds,wiring/plugs,etc. The pics I could find of the Vtec d15b also have the plugs and wires/oil cap reversed. The kid my friend bought the car off him told him the stuff he told me. WTF is this thing? I also need to take off the heat shield to find out what is stamped on the head. No time today.
