I went to a local junkyard today. I found a few interesting things i thought i could use or sell. I found a vw 1.8T intercooler. I wouldnt use it, but i thought i could sell it. Too bad they want 100 dollars for it!!!! 1996 Integra LS motor, longblock with manifolds, cant remember the miles--for 1200!!!!! (no axles, trans, ecu, linkage, anything!!) and another ls motor that has reeeeeal bad oxidation and rust on the motor...they wont part that out!!! (my reasoning would be "who wants a motor with peeling paint on the valve cover and rusted/oxidized everything, i mean most things like tb, throttle cable, misc pipes, im, mounts, and such).

sorry for the rant....i was a little annoyed. Anyone want a 1.8T intercooler i can get for ya for 100 plus shipping, i wont make a dime, but ill help someone out...if they want it.

Sounds like the local Honda yard up here in WA.

Its the only yard you can buy from to get the part you need to because they are pretty much a monopoly so they can charge whatever they want.

For Example:
GSR Cloth Seats Front and back 1200.

thats about right, back in the day my buddy picked up a GSR motor complete with a ACT clutch for 1500 from a not so knowledgeable scrap yard,,keep looking, and check out thos rural states - rednecks love 6's and 8's not 4's,,,they won't know the difference.

my friend sold his crx for about 50 to a local yard. and about a year later we stoped in cuz my friend was looking for oem rex tail lights and we found my buddies car and it still had the tails and we said taht we wanted em and there like a hundred dollars for evey thing. i mentioned that they bought the car from my friend for fifty and half the car has been sold by then. the fuck stick would not give us a break.

i live in buttcrack usa wyoming. and the local yard *cough*40 miles away*cough* wants $1700 for a complete d15b7 swap. they haven't even seen an integra on their yard, but i saked what they would probalby price a swap on one of those at and they said probably $4500-$5000. they are such assholes too.

Chris and I have been twice now to this pick 'n' pull junkyard near Boston. Their prices are all over the place. One checkout guy seems more expensive that the other one.

damn....anyway you can take pics of the intercooler? and see if they can take $75 for it if you go out there and take it off yourself.

The yard closest to my house wanted $150 bucks for a partially rusted out DSM Turbo off an Eclipse. I said no fuckin way and bought a non rusted one for $125 two weeks later. :D

well when he said 100 for the intercooler i said, 100 really, you sure? he took an annoyed tone and said "yeah really." So i can try next time i go there. i can take pics next time i go, maybe like...friday. are you that interested??

junk yard ppl seem to lack the necessary people skills...and hygiene

exactly, they make there money back and then some on parting it out compared to what they paid for it.

here is what the intercooler looks like for the most part, but in much better condition with maybe 1, if any, bent fins.

:werd:

A new block would cost $1200. this block could have unforseen problems, i.e. microscopic cracks, rust, etc

Yeah thats what I was saying. Hell you can get a whole engine for about $1000 (give or take depending on the whereabouts) more.
