Damn. I've been meaning to check mine. Are they rated to last a certain amount of time/mileage? or is it a replace it when it's worn out situation?

Looks like that caliper wasn't working anyway.. could be the photo/lighting, but that doesn't just look like the normal surface rust you'd get after a couple of days..

 i think that woulda been fatal if it happened to me. good job not dying!

yea, thats just the angle of the camera i guess
its only surface rust, the disc was shiny that night
it sat out for a couple days with that side facing up just like it sits in the picture

i imagine that it glowing cherry red might have had something to do with it
this was more than just a bad wheel bearing
the failure was directly caused by too much heat and melting metal

repack the bearing, get the rotor turned, and you should be fine

lol
new axle, new fully loaded caliper, and the rest of the parts off my parts truck
was back together in 2 days thanks to my buddy
i dont have time now to work on anything

I'm sorry, but everyone that I have know that has had a wheel bearing go out has had plenty of warning before their wheel broke off. That's your own damn fault.

no warning, no humming, no whirring, no grinding, no noise
and i did check then a few months back when i put the 4wd on the road for the winter

also keep in mind that these are 33" mudders and do make an incredible amount of road noise
but thanks for being a dickbag
