tranny only go in one way?

puttin the hf trans back on my rex i got everything lined up and the trans bolted up, i had to tap it all the way on with the mallet but i was curious before i put all the shit back on if its on right? i had my girl rotate tha crank by hand with a socket untill the trans pushed in. Is this the proper procedure? Can i check to verify that the trans is engaging?
any help will be very much appreciated

the trans only goes on one way.

you should have slid it on and rotated it to match the holes but its the same thing.

Theres some metal nobies on the trany that will only let it sit in the bell housing one way, the right way.
