hey all i need help figuring out what color to primer my car. please vote and if you choose the one marked "other" please put in a color and i will consider it. thanks!

Alright before i click on anything, what exactly is the point of getting colored primer? If it is just flat automotive paint, what does that do for the actuall paint? Isnt primer like a foundation for the paint to go on?

My mom's friend restores old corvettes and he tells me the smoother the primer is pretty much says how smooth the paint will come out after you wet sand that and what not and clear...like to get rid of total orange peal I heard it takes like 4 or 5 atleast multi stages of priming and sanding for the ultimate clean coat of paint.

having colored primer is unique. i like it cause its not something that you see every day. it doesnt do anything to the actual paint...just is flat paint basically with no clear coat. it wont hurt the car at all. yes primer is a foundation for paint but in my case, the primer is gonna be there for a long time. heres a pic of my 97 Civic coupe i had with green primer:

:withstupid:

Flat black would look very cool until you got the car finally painted...Hell you might even like the color so much you keep it. In the summer it would kinda suck though... :D

yeah, i wouldn't sit on your car if you primer is black, you pants would probably catch on fire...that's my choice by the way, black

assuming its a civic again, i'd go with orange or yellow. make it stand out and be noticed. i've seen a few showcars that were primer with primered flames on them too, but im not a big fan of flames. the black primer thing is already overdone IMO.

just had an idea. you can paint the top half yellow and the bottom half black. i think that would look badass :)

Purple? I see you didn't have a choice for Burnt Orange there... GO HORNS!

the car is already black and i hate black cars...LOL. black primer is just too plain, but thanks for your suggestions who suggested that.

Calesta..thought about a burnt orange color. more like tangelo....purple is hella :ghey: LOL.

the car is NOT a Civic OR a Honda for that...its a Mazda powered 1993 Ford Escort GT  its got a 1.8L DOHC motor that has the same internals as a 1.6L DOHC Mazda Miata does...only a lil bigger. and the performance parts from that Miata motor bolts up directly to mine other than the JRSC (which i am not 100% correct about). thats about it and the only exterior mod i have for it is a touring wing. so keep suggesting colors guys and gals. :)

Usually Primer is the foundation for your paint. Next of all, you should probably figure out the color you are going to paint the car first, because the primer should be a CONTRAST to the color you are going to paint the car.

EX: If you are going to paint your car white, use black primer.
If you are going to paint your car orange, use grey

whatever contrasts the color you are going to paint the car best is the color primer you should use. So i vote neither, hence the fact that you did not specify the color you are going to paint your car, and that i think that cars riding around with primer and no paint all the time is :ghey:

i think TPP has been primering cars for longer then you've had your lisense bro :worthy:

not saying that your old or anything B

LOL its all good...shit i know i am old...LOL. and yes i have been primering cars for a long ass time. i like mine with no shine. shiney sucks. primer is finer.

holy blast from the past!! ...i thought u sold that thing ages ago LOL :D

..in that case i would go with yellow. by these guys' standards it would be "ghey", but by showcar standards, i think it would be phat to see a primer yellow escort :D
