Ok so the local TV/Furniture store is offering a deal where you get a "free" tv with the purchase of some furniture. We are moving into a house on Friday and are spending some of our wedding money on a new bedroom set, Mattresses, TV stand and possibly a dinning room table. We have the terms satisfied to get the tv I just need to choose which one. The tv would go in our family room which is decently lit by windows on either end of the room. It would be used for watching Direct TV and regular DVD's as we don't have a high def player or BluRay.
Here are the specs
Hitachi
50" HD1080 Plasma HDTV
P50H401
or
Mitsubishi
57" 1080p DLP® HDTV
WD57734
I know the pros and cons of each but I still can't make up my mind. On the one had I get a projection screen where I have to replace the bulb every 3-5 years and on the other I get a plasma where I have to replace it 7-10 years down the road due to the half life of the screen. I don't want to wall mount so that will not be an issue.
Please don't post any you should get X brand for X dollars. We already have the furniture - the TV is an added bonus that we get. I just would like to know which of the two is the better tv to get.
