which way does it go?

On the D15b6, looking at the belt side, which way does the engine turn? clockwise or counter? I thought it turned clockwise,but the haynes told me to turn it counter to set the valve clearances for each TDC.

they turn counter clockwise.

Thanks, that might help explain some of the tapping i got the first time i put the engine back together.
