So i'm looking for a new job, (yes already) and Infiniti is hiring. I know the turnover is high for car sales, the posted income is 50k-120k. which i'm sure is inflated.

This isn't my point though. Would YOU ever work at a car dealership? Even if it is just temporary.

Yes. And I have. My father has worked for one too. Even my ex, Dave went from a salesman to the Sales Manager in less than a year. He makes good money, and could make a lot more if he chooses to be the General Manager of the dealership. Work for a high volume dealer and your income is almost endless. It's not a bad job either, just watch out for the lowballers who research everything on the internet and leave you to sell a car for 500 over invoice. :(

well, i want a G35 really bad. I'm sure I could do reasonably well also. but it is an extremely cyclical industry. plus i'm extremely over qualified for car sales. but who knows, it could pay very well.

financial advisor's don't work in retail.

you can do better than that IMO

yeah, it was just a thought. haha, i have such horrible 20/20 hindsight. when i signed up for the air force i wanted to go into computer programming. but when i went in, i got duped and they GAVE me my job. I didn't get to choose. So instead of working on computer software and computers, I got stuck working on computer PARTS in jets. now i'm fucked.

i have put in for some stuff at Nintendo headquarters though. it's about 30 minutes away from me.

oh yeah, and i have had 2 offers from hollister also. salary at $29k. ^_^

I have a friend that manages the garage at a local Ford dealership. He makes good money and gets a discount if he buys a car. He drives a 300 whp turbo RSX though, haha.

Yea I work at a dealership, been here almost a year.. its pretty decent money even though I dont do sales. The people that do sales make retarded money here!! Of course we do special financing so that helps. Here I know that if you even sale at least 6 cars a month, which we have people that sale that in a week, you are guaranteed atleast 8-10k a month. I got a job offer at another dealership that I could possibly be taking soon as a finance manager which means extra much bank roll! YAY!! I just got off work early like 4 hours early so Im outta here! later peeps!

don't dis the 21 year old in Car Sales that makes 175k a year. That's my brother (when he was 21, now he's 26) and he's already made a million. So... it can't be that bad. ;)

I think it depends on your personality. It's someting you have to be cut out for. And what type of area (car market) you live in. I might but only if I moved back to Vegas

THe noob hit it right on the head. I've been there and done that. When I 1st got out the AF, I tried my hand at it for a few months, 1st month I worked at a hyundai dealership, left cause all their sales pitch included comparisons to honda, I just can't sell something I agree with, then I moved on to a Ford dealership, stayed there just for their training program and raked in $2600 the 1st month and then $4800 the next, but I had to commute to work so I traded up to a bigger dealership close to home, Reliable Nissan, Chevy, GMC, and Mitsubishi. THe only bad thing about being a salesperson is one month you can make from $4k-$8k and then the next the bare minimum. Then when shit is slow you kinda have to be a dick to the rest of the sales guys trying to get every potential buyer that walks in the door.

My Brother, step brother, and cousin all work for NOA (Nintendo of America).

My brother is a senior administrator and often does marketing gigs for them. He flies to cali, new york, etc. and does releases, did the MTV release for the Wii this past year, etc. He's a tool in general but with no college rakes in atleast 4.5k a month without ot. If you ever check out a Mariner's game this coming season you'll catch him or my step brother doing the booth there.

My bro, step bro, and cousin have real good things to say about NOA. You get great benefits, cheaper lift tickets to stevens pass, cheaper seats at mariner's games, and well get great vacation pay.

My step bro has a GED and works in customer service, where my bro used to work.

My cousin works in testing and developing. He's an uber nerd but dropped out at AIS after two years.

I hate salesman. I know what I want to buy. I don't need someone to tell me. The only reason salesman and real estate agents make so much money is because there are so many stupid people out there.

What a co-incidence. I hate customers like that because they're the ones who feel like salespeople are their personal door mats. Not all salespeople are aggressive. A good salesperson will guide a customer into the correct choice for the customer. Often times, the Product Specialist will know significantly more about the products than the customer does because most customers don't do their homework.

Remember, we're trying to make a living too.
Ding Ding Ding. Blanco hits the nail on the head. I did car sales for several years and recently got out. Did I make good money? You bet. My first year(9 months actually), I made about 65k. I made more in subsequent years. I was good at it, and enjoyed it, but wouldn't do it again. Too many hours. I'm still in sales, and took a monster pay cut leaving the car game, but I'm happier now. :)

Haha, yeah right. At a commission rate of 25% of the front end gross profit, which is a decent rate, they'd have to make 6 pounds in the front on every sale to make 9k off of just six cars. If you're good enough to make a 6 pounder on EVERY car you sell, trust me, you'll sell a lot more than just that.

Hmmmmm funny I was looking through the newspaper at the hospitol yesterday, and came across a salesman ad that said $3,000/mo with no sales experiance.
