So you know I got fucked over by Fort Wayne Nissan (owned by the Bob Rohrman Auto Group of theives and morons)...if you didn't, look at my sig, and the other thread that's in here somewhere...
Anyway, Today wasn't a wasted saturday... I managed to get up at 10:00 or so... So I went over to my work and got my dad, we went out from 10:30 to 4:30...minus about 20 minutes for lunch, we visited every fucking car lot in Fort Wayne. Both Toyotas, both lincoln mercuries, both fords, the dodge, honda, subaru, kelley chevrolet, saturn, even Mercedes benz (they're one of our customers)
ANYWAY, I found two cars that actually peaked my interest. One was that Black 2000 Civic SI 5 speed I mentioned before. It has 35k miles on it and it stickered for $15,995 (they dropped it to $15,750 since last wednesday) **Now I know it was like 24/10 in favor of the 2.5RS but the nearest Subey dealer (that IS NOT Bob Rohrman owned (he's never getting my money)), is well over an hour away.
The 2nd car I found was a Red 2000 Toyota Celica GT, 5 speed. Never found out the price & it wasn't on the window. Looked good except one big scratch on the rear bumper. I Loved the gauges, they start straight down and work their way clockwise.
I test drove the Civic and noticed that the mileage put on the shifter wasn't helped with the fact the idiot who leased it for the 3 year term probably rested his arm on the shifter, it was wobbley as fuck, but not NEARLY as bad as my Escorts. A simple B&M Short throw shifter would help, wouldn't it? I think so.
The only cosmetic problems I saw was the pinstripes on the front quarter panel that go thru the door to the rear, there was a little chunk missing and there was a very very very very small (like 1/2 a dime in size) dent inbetween the two windshield squirters. The radio for some reason wouldn't tune into any station which I found odd, even after I pulled the antenna out. So we went in to talk about the money, and he decided to drop the price to $15,500 for some reason. I told him I had $1000 to put down (I do...seriously I do), and he said give us $100 and if no luck, we'll refund it. Fine by me. So Monday at High noon, I'll know if I can get myself a car that my brother owned and loved. (he had a red 00 SI)
What I wanna know is, if I can get this fuckin car, what would be the best way to upgrade it without spending much money? I'd like to get a new shifter, and a cold air intake. (to hear the Vtec kick in) Is there anything I should watch out for? should I try to do some basic maintenance on the B16 or just let it be until 60k miles??
