Well, I'm glad I didn't get the Fusion, seems like the Jetta TDI would be a better replacement; the EPA mileage looks great and the price is within my range! Anyways, just wondering if there's any other sedans(larger preferably) that gets as good mileage or know if the CC is going to be TDI also?

Still need a car to replace the 96 Chrysler Concorde.

My friend has an MK4 VR6, $300 for a new coil pack, $800 for a new alt. Just something to take into consideration when thinking VW.

I honestly don't mind the higher maintenance cost as long as it's quality. I'm just getting tired of problems with the Concorde. It's still under 100k miles but I'm pretty sure some sort of roller bearing is fucked, constant CELs for the emissions system(has been repaired twice), multiple cooling issues, tie rod went out, A/C compression clutch took a shit, freaking message center thingy burned up and filled the cabin with smoke, etc. Only reason I still have it is because the sound system and room(was about to trade it for a Maxima or something).

I mean, the Jetta TDI fits my criteria except for I'd like the room of a full-size sedan.

I'm inherently anti-vw. Sorry. I'm going to have to ask you if you're absolutely sure that you can afford two cars, one VW, and another car for when the VW is in the shop.

Besides, you can't get the low-sulfur diesel easily yet.

The VW will rarely be driven, if that matters. 92 Honda Accord for work, 88 Civic for play/weekends. The VW would be strictly for leisure/travel.

As far as low-sulfur diesel goes, we have plenty of pumps that carry that....but Ultra-low-sulfur, that I'm not sure...but a LOT of trucks travel through NC....hell, Maximum Overdrive was filmed in NC! lol

The L4 Accord, but I don't think that has the power you're looking for in this instance. Look at the v6 6mt Accord, they're puuuuurdy.

I'd ask you to look at a 3-series as well. The 335 is twin-turbo, so as long as you can keep out of full boost, you should be able to attain decent FE.

Acura TSX, but it's really underpowered here in the US.

If you want to go with an american car, Ford makes a few that might be worth it. The Fusion, and the newer Taurus (although I haven't been in a Taurus yet, so don't take my word for it.)

Mitsubishi has a good offering here as well, the Galant is a peppy little car, and it seems to do well on gas.

Mazda's 6 is a nice car, almost competing with some of the luxury brands. If they've fixed the lower-seat issues that I experienced, I'd seriously reconsider it.

Lastly, take a look at the Subaru Legacy. Had they had one on the lot for me (manual, no nav, barebones), I would have gotten one.

Power is not a concern, but more of MPG and price. Pretty much the best "bang for buck". The Fusions look nice, but when I was looking at them a while back, the total price was around $28k+taxes. I had a discount back then though, which brought it to $22k, but also couldn't really afford it(I was working part-time). I didn't know they're still making the Taurus, I'll have to check that out.

As far as the Honda/Acuras go, the V6s are pretty much about out of my price range. The 09/10 Accord EX is like $24.5k retail. I guess worth looking into. As for the Legacy and 3-series, I haven't really looked into those, but I'm pretty sure the 3-series are out of my price range. I'm aiming for 25k or less; pretty much looking for the biggest sedan with best MPG possible.

I guess I got more researching to do. Hate the Vdub that bad? lol. I've already looked at some of those cars btw; pretty much any hatchbacks are out. Just not diggin them(really, not big enough), same goes with the smaller cars like the 3 and Civic.

I already brought that up. The Jetta TDI is like the same size as tha Altima, but with better MPG. Btw, I saw the latest gen Altima from the back, must say, I didn't like it. Reminds me of the Crossfire.

I don't like Nissan's new sedans. They stole the headlights from the 370, and it's UGGGGGGGGGGGGGLEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I would go with the Jetta TDI but with any decent options and accessories your looking at 26-28k easily...then of course tax, title, reg fee...

I had an 06 GLI and I loved that car....allot of peopel were impressed with it...nice quality...and i was able to get 30-35mpg highway....

Come to think of it for 5 grand less i am certain the Jetta S would do the trick

I would go with a subaru...... Very good quality and very good performance....... Very good cars. Awsome for traveling imo.
