My dad was building a 63 Nova to race, and my brother bought a 71 for his first car so I wanted a 66 or 67 so we'd have all three of the early generations but prices skyrocketed before I could find a suitable one. :(

Craig's list random cities in a 500 mile radius. You'll find a crack head that has one for sale for $1500. The low purchase price will more than make up for the cost of retrieval. Of course, it won't be a little cherry either, but thats half the fun..

haha, actually my aunt had one of those the damn thing went forever, 400k miles if i remember correct

yeah those things were indestructible
i beat the living hell out of mine and it just kept running

my girlfriend's landlords are selling a 72 omega for 1500.

wish I had 1500.:(

At the pace I work it'd never be done. I want a muscle car but I don't even have the time or money to finish my Camaro.
 The Omega is even more a bastard step child that the Ventura!

i voted for the k swapped crx...

dont like corvettes, dont like american cars at all actually (except the classics).

i see k swapped hondas for sale all the time in the 7-10k range. if it was me i would probably buy one with the swap already done and then expand on that.

For an America car the C5 is the cream of the crop for its time. Only thing else American and sports car is a viper and mustang. A lot of followers for the vette would never sit in a JAP car. LOTS of union works have them.

The S2000 can easily stay ahead of Zs stock for stock.

I'm not talking straight line. If that was the case I'd say get a mustang or look into a full size truck.

thanks, my nerd rage, and s2k owner pride almost flew off the handle.

i couldnt believe someone was going to say a 350z was better in the curves (stock for stock) than a z.

i almost imploded waiting to explode.

Your guy in the C5 can't drive. I've seen C5's on track. With suspension work they will rape a 350/370z or s2k.

So you're telling me someone who has had both cars... oh never mind.

Lets just go with the 350Z and S2000 guys can't drive. glass is half full or half empty?

Damn...this thread blew up quick. I now realized the C5 was with the pop up head lights (5.7 LS1) That motor is pretty sought after in the Hot Rod community right now Although Ford hot rodders are starting to put Ford motors in them (used to almost all be 350 Chevy)

C6 can be the 6.0 (LS2) or the 7.0 ZR1 (which is the one that is expensive on upkeep)

I like the idea of keeping the CRX for long distance and rippin the vette around for tons of fun. I was 23 when I first drove one (a 91 Vette) and it tripped me out to feel like I was riding on the back tires when it broke loose in a turn.

Both cars, there are 3 cars in question here.

I'm just stating what I've seen on track. Driving "togue" on some backroad is a shitty example of any cars handling characteristics. You can go maybe 6/10ths on public roads?

Please stop. The C6 started with the LS2 but now comes with the LS3 for the base model. The 7.0 LS7 is in the Z06 not the ZR1, which has the supercharged 6.2L LS9.

eh 350Z maybe, but an S2000? seriously?

Yup

Consider this- when I was car shopping 5 years ago, I was looking at several cars all within the same mid 20-ish price bracket:

AP1 S2000
C5 Corvette
RX-8
early 90s NSX
early 90s Viper

I chose the S2000. The C5 and the RX-8 were the other real contenders in the decision pool. I saw too many guys trading in C5s for S2000s. ;)

Okay I meant Z06 but thanks for being an ass in your almighty correction. Hope you don't talk to people like that in person....or if you do, you should be wearing a cup. Now that made me laugh

quite sure it was. i have a distinct lack of tact, and i dont think i would have phrased that comment any differently.

While we're all honda fans and some of us have dumped multiples of money over the price/value of the car in mods, there comes a time when you get to our age (30's) where it's time to think beyond the wants and toys and focus on the rest of our lives. We're not kids anymore.

Put away 15k today in a roth ira earning on historical average, 8%. You will have 75k+ when you are 60, without ever adding a dime to it.

Add just $100 a month to it ($1200 a year), and that number jumps to $100k + at age 60.

And, 100k won't even be remotely enough to retire on.

Simply put, by age 35, if you don't have at least 50k in investments/savings, you are WAY behind.... or, on your path to becoming a walmart greeter.

I don't know what your financial position is, but if you don't have 50k or close to 50k now, you really can't afford to do either, even though the hole burning in your pocket is telling you otherwise.

What's down the road? wedding/wife? kids? putting kids through college? BIG BUCKS! Save now while you can.
I'm only a few years younger than you and i know i'm behind. I'm expecting a bit of an inheritance from my grandfather when he passes, but that may be many years down the road (he's 85, but ya never know...). I'm semi-counting on that money in the next 5 years to put me at the savings level i want to be at. And it's still not enough.

The zc crx is fun enough, i'm sure. there will always be someone faster. you will always want something faster. But, you probably don't want to be a greeter, either.

My friend sold the Z and still has the Vette. He uses it almost daily, finds it to be a better day to day car, more comfy, more highway power, he has upgrade his suspension to help things a long but he does miss the handling of the Z in the end for his taste he likes the C5 more.

I think most people will agree the corvette is a very comfy sports car that makes for a good daily driver, that's why I see them EVERYWHERE
