i am curious cuz i have a jdm b18c with a cable transmission and the car pulls hard and quick, but if i was to change the transmission to hydraulic will i get much more out of it...in other words is it worth the transmission to swap???and which is the correct transmission???

really have no clue just know its a cable tranny...how canci find out???or is that even possible???

there should be code on front lke ys1 , y80 biggest diff is wth hydro alot more options you can do lsd also hassport has a convo mount

well out of curiosity what kind of options would i het with a hydro tranny???and will it be a beneficial change for me???

well if you have a good cable trans i would just stay with that, its really not worth the money just for a little bit smother shift

well my tranny shifts really good...just had my 3rd and 5th gear synchros replaced and had hot flanked and the guy i took it to (he owns the shop i take it to) told me you now have a brand new transmission...but if its just for a smoother shift i think im kewl than...

depends on the type of driving you like, for me thats a good lb to go with not to lite

There's some cable transmissions that have really nice gear ratios (mainly the JDM ones and the B17 GSR transmission). As stated before, only reason to go hydro is if you want to run aftermarket components; though I believe one of those cable transmission can use hydro parts(I'm not 100% on that so don't take my word for it).

As for flywheel weight, 10-13lbs is ideal for DD and drag racing. Lighter is more suited for road course/autocross.

so im good then with the 9 pounder...thanx...

the best would be a cable b16 tranny, it would have the shortest gears of the b series cable trannys. the best hydro tranny would be the ITR tranny. but it really depends on what you plan on doing to the engine. for boost, i'd recommend a hydro gsr or if you can get a cable gsr, stick with that. for all motor the ITR and b16 have the shortest gear ratios. only thing is that the 5th gear is pretty short, like 4500 rpm at 70-75.

*cable B16 out of the JDM Integras and B17 Integras.

ITR and hydro B16 have short gear spacing but the ITR is actually shorter due to the shorter FD. In other words, RPM drop is similar but with the B16 you'd spend more time in each gear and each gear would have a higher top speed for a given RPM.

For boost though, the cable B16 would actually be nice. Has a taller FD(4.266 or something around there) but still has short RPM drops. As for what's the best; really depends on what you're looking for. For me, DD with a short transmission is pretty annoying.

That's the tallest transmission I believe, good for daily driving and I guess high-power turbo setups.
