Im going to have my friend paint my car(finally) and I need some advice on paint.

Im on a budget but I want a nice finish. I found DuPont paint Championship white for $250 a gal for base and $150 for two quarts clear.

Is there better paint for the price? Or should I stick with DuPont?

Please help! I never painted anything and would like your guys input.

i hit up google and found this
Hello, I've been in the paint and body world for 27 years and I prefer PPG over dupont any day. I'm talking about basecoat, clearcoat. The dupont is a little cheaper but it doesn't cover as well so you will use more of it. I use PPG (dbc). U can get (dbu) which uses a reactive reducer but color doesn't match as well and you can't save the mixed paint in a can without it hardening up. Use the DBC version of PPG and it doesn't use reactive reducer therefore you can save any mixed paint in a sealed can and spray it at a later date. It matches better also... If you are painting an entire vehicle where color match can stand to be off just a little you can save a large amount of money and use OMNI mbc basecoat. It covers ok and is a lot cheaper. How long it last depends on the clear u use anyway... hope this helps....

I'm not really familiar with automotive paint... but if you need some house paint I can answer those questions for you ;)

Thanks guys, I googled myself and seen both sides myself.

Has anybody ever used dupont paint personally?

I have, I do super-high-end paintwork on a fairly regular basis. Use PPG or Nason, or even Omni or ShopLine. PPG DBC is the bee's knees - the above quote is DEAD NUTS ACCURATE, can't beat that info with a stick.
