Well im thinking about going K series in an ek. if i do it, it will be a crv block with a type-s head. my questions are: What trannies can i use, what flywheel/clutch, can i use a stock ecu?

Also if someone could give me a list of all parts i will need I would greatly appreciate it. I am trying to price out the build before i do anything.
 
you will need a k series tranny,, and just to get it in there you looking at about 3 grand not counting the motor price
 
motor price does not worry me one bit. i cant exactly say how much im buying a k24 longblock for, but the type-s head will be more expensive.
 
Ya man. They are pricey.

Not really worth it if you ask me but to each their own.

Only the K-series transmissions will work. You'll need a motor, tranny, ECU, mounts, and some kind of engine management. Look to spend between 7-10 grand when all is said and done.
 
well im getting a k24 longblock for 100 bucks (i work at a honda dealer). it was pulled from a crv for overheating problems. it needs new piston rings, and im not worried about the head cause id put a type-s head on it, and ill do a new water pump and t-stat.
Which is the best tranny to use?
 
and since you work at honda you might even want to put a usdm 06-07 si tranny on there they have lsd
 
go to hybrid-racing.com and just look around there. they have the fool proof wiring harness, shift mount box, axles, engine mounts, swap headers, and shifter cables and whatever else you will need. good luck with the build man.
 
to put a K series into your ek, you will need the following:
1) k-series engine/tranny
2) shifter box w/cables
3) aftermarket header (r-krew)
4) hondata k-pro
5) mount kit
6) custom half and half axles
7) you have to setup the fuel system for return (k-series has no return on their fuel system)

you will have to do some cutting for the shifter box to fit properly.

if you have the cash, go for it. pay a reputable shop to do it, they will as long as your willing to pay them 10-13k for everything. if not, there labor rate will be high enough to make you want to crap out of your ears. for that kind of money you can just buy a brand new car.
 
yea im starting to lean moire towards building a b series or something. not sure yet. we'll see when it comes down to it. b-series would be cheaper and faster.

not so true... stock k20a2 (rsx type-s) will usually make around 220whp with a header and k-pro. not for nothing, but you can build a 2.0L build to make way more power than that.

My friend has a k20a (itr) in his hatch, he dyno'd 235whp or so with r-crew header, k-pro and fuel management. Now there is a local kid with a b20vtec setup that dyno'd (recently at my tuners shop) 260+whp with NO itb's. Thats pretty damn good if you ask me. When the track re-opens im pretty sure ill be seeing him there, especially for spring nationals.

now if you wanna make near 300whp NA with b-series, this is the way to go...

b20 short block
re-sleeve and run 85mm bore X 95mm stroke
13.5:1 compression CP forged pistons
Pauter rods
ITR head with a port job from portflow
oversize flat valves
toda C's
toda valvetrain
ITB's
440cc injectors
hytech header 4-1

guaranteed to push the 300whp boundaries. Very similiar to Endyn's old setup. They used the roller-wave pistons.

ill tell you like I tell everyone else... K is the future. you can build a b-series to make more power for the same money, yet you risk reliability. It all comes down to what you want... you wanna be another "me 2" with a K, or do you want to build a K-series killer? There a handful of built Ks in my region... go 10-20 miles north of me and there are about 10 more roaming the streets from BYT and GBR tuning... not to mention the ppl who remain quiet about it. A built K can make 300whp. Thats good for 11's in a hatch all day long.

the only reason you can build a b to have the same power as the k with the same money is because the k parts are alot higher, in the long run with unlimited money the k will produce more power
