    d16y8 won't start

It Started!! Well, it finally started - honestly I think the only thing it needed was drying off. We have had a lot of rain and humidity these last 2 weeks. In the morning, condensation would be all over the engine, dizzy, radiator, etc. Yesterday things actually dried off, my wife got it...

    d16y8 won't start

I did a compression test, numbers were very low: 90, 85, 110, 90. At least there is compression. What I'm thinking: I drained the oil during this whole process and what little was left in there settled. I'm hoping the pistons and cylinders are just without oil. I'll give them a small...

    d16y8 won't start

Thanks for the replies/suggestions. My wife got home late and we checked for spark - all 4 are good. Gonna check for fuel and compression later today. I've got the Haynes, and will follow the instructions for compression test unless someone knows a quicker/shortcut method...? What does...

    d16y8 won't start

My water pump went bad so I swapped it out - water pump, timing belt, tensioner. Putting it all back together and it won't start: the starter is obviously turning, but no other noise from the motor. Crank and cam are turning. I've triple checked the timing: single tick on crank pulley is...

    I don't think it's wheel balance

The "stressed under load" I thought was the telltale symptom, but it also has me confused. Even if it was an axle balance weight, regardless of power, it's still spinning, wouldn't it still vibrate? Thanks, Nic in Bham

    I don't think it's wheel balance

Nope - no shaking in the steering. Purely in the front/passenger area. Does it cruising, does it at acceleration. No specific rpms either. It's just there when the gas is on, gone when the gas is off. Thanks for asking!

    I don't think it's wheel balance

98 Civic coupe, D16Y8, automatic I have noticed a vibration that seems to be coming from the front/passenger side. My first thought was the wheel needed to be balanced. My wife drives this car more than I do, so when I finally spent some time driving it, I'm not convinced balance is the...

My favorite quote was (supposedly) from a Dutch newspaper back during the primaries: (I'm paraphrasing)"On the one hand, you have a lawyer married to a lawyer(Hillary Clinton) and a lawyer married to a lawyer(Barak Obama). On the other hand you have a decorated military hero, married to a hot...

    1980s ricer?

My favorite sticker (not quite as stupid as re-badging, but I still laugh) was on a Jeep Rubicon - all decked out with roll bars, Hella lights everywhere, Warn winch, lifted, 36" tires, etc. etc. I got out of my car and right at eye level on the side of the jeep was a small, subtle sticker...
