do u think lowering the compression by getting a thicker head gasket will help the pinging? i rather change the headgasket than run a higher ocatane
and if i do get a barrel of 100 octane how much would i mix in to my tank?
is there another way to lower compression ratio other than replacing...

yo guys, i got a friend with a EG stock b18c1, and he has this co-worker that is always talking shit about hondas and imports. He drives a shitty automatic camero z28 (2000).
my friend was thinking about racing him. your thoughts?
thanks no2psi for your suggestions. i think i am going to get a dyno tune soon but wont be able to do it for another 2 weeks. its occasional pinging it isnt constant that would be ok to drive daily wouldnt it?
thanx

my engine is pinging like a mofo under load at low rpms. i tried using octane boost and it reduced the noise but not by much. the current compression is 12.5:1, if i lower the compression can that stop the damn pinging? and how would i go about lowering it. im using a p28 ecu which doesnt search...
ok so thats what i did. i got a bottle of octance booster from an autoparts store. i poured that mofo in and got a new tank of gas. i did notice that the noise has reduced quite a bit in 1st and 2nd gear, but its still there. the bottle i bought didnt say now many points it would raise, i did...
thanks for the suggestion, i checked under the car and the knocking noise seems to be coming from block internally. does anyone know if i run with a higher octane, will it stop the knocking? or maybe use a p72 since it searches for a knock sensor?? and what will happen if i continue to drive...
