    EG hatch swap questions.

Your gas mileage won't be that bad running a B18C with a turbo and a proper tune. If your daily commute is mostly highway then you'll be fine because once you get up to highway speeds you won't be in boost which will reduce fuel consumption. Turbo cars aren't terrible on gas, the problem comes...

    H22A1/H22A

Everything between the two engines is interchangeable. You are correct about the pistons though. You can put H22A1 pistons in your H22A, you just lose some compression. Rings are fine though, you can order and use rings from the USDM motor.

    Oil on plug threads.

Just did a compression test Cyl #1 - 260 Cyl #2 - 270 Cyl #3 (the one with the wet plug) - 250 Cyl #4 - 270 IMO these look ok, anyone else have a thought??? I did compression test with the engine warm, all four plugs pulled and I pulled the ecu fuse. Spark plug grommets are visibly leaking...

    Oil on plug threads.

Ok guys, I'm really sorry to keep posting these damn h22 bogging questions because I know they're so hard to diagnose, especially over forums, but I'm getting really frustrated, so I'm gonna try to ask as many specific questions as possible and hopefully someone can help. A little background. My...

    JDM compression test

LOL - I think I answered this in my post on the other thread. I put in OEM type S pistons, which have an 11:1 cr, which is why my numbers are higher. The stock JDM h22a has a cr of 10.6:1, so naturally your numbers will be slightly lower. IMO 220 on four cylinders are good numbers for the...

    H22A rebuild

You have more of a budget than I had, so you can easily restore your engine to OEM specs and power. I changed my pistons, but only because I had broken ringlands on 1-3. I got lucky and my cylinder walls were fine. You're not gonna know exactly what condition everything is in until you get it...

wht type of pain to i have?

If you wet sand properly you will not go through the clear coat. A light wet sand followed by a proper buff and polish will make a night and day difference on any car. It will make the orange peel less noticable. If it's really bad or bothering you, then a paint job would be the best way to...

    H22A rebuild

Use OEM pistons and rings unless you're going to sleeve it, then the skies the limit. Do not run forged pistons on the stock sleeves or you'll be in for a lot more trouble and money then you bargained for. If anything, possibly mahle pistons on the stock sleeves ( this is much debatable...

    JDM compression test

I was never able to find actual JDM specs for compression, all I was able to do was find out what everyone else was running. My freshly rebuilt JDM h22a with 11:1 cr showed 260 psi across the board. There is a math equation that you can find that will give you exactly what your compression...

    Strong exhaust smell

Thanks for clarifying that. Just what I needed. Learn something new everyday on here

    Strong exhaust smell

Just like the title says, I've got a strong exhaust smell accompanied by a bog a low rpm. When I research I get some conficting answers on what a strong exhaust smell is. Am I running rich, or lean???? I'm assuming if I'm lean I'm not getting enough fuel, and if I'm rich then I'm possibly...

another h22 swap help post but different car

Mine put down 162 hp and 168 tq all motor on a chipped p28 tuned for spray before rebuild. Wish I could find the dyno sheet to prove it though.

another h22 swap help post but different car

LMAO - Hotrex I always get a good laugh out of reading your replies on the h22. I don't think there's anyone out there who hates this engine as much as you. I love mine. I've never had any problems. Good hp and tq, what's not to like? Wait, forget I asked. I can forsee a really long reply...

    ignition coil in h22

Yeah, I was impressed. I've gotten some pretty bad wasted explanations, so that was by far the best one I've seen yet. In case anyone is interested, or perhaps already knew this, but I'll post it anyway. A d series ignitor and coil pack work in the jdm h22a dizzy. Guts look exactly the same...

    ignition coil in h22

LOL Thanks dude. Wasted or not, just what I needed. Gonna try that now. Hopefully the D series dizzy works.

    ignition coil in h22

Or at least let me try to narrow this down to yes or no questions in some very unscientific terms. Do I have to swap the entire internals??? Or just ignitor and coil??? Now, coil is the heavy thing that's screwed into the bottom of the dizzy with two wires coming off it??? Ignitor is the small...

    Resistor boxes

LOL - definitely too many causes on the bogging problem. At least I can cross the resistor box off my list. Thanks. No CEL, flushed injectors, changed everything else that could be related except for ignitor and coil which I'm gonna do tomorrow, and fuel pump which IMO either works or it...

    ignition coil in h22

Dumb question, and I apologize for the thread jack, but is there a link anywhere that you know of that would show pics or give directions to pulling my JDM h22a dizzy apart and switching the coil and ignitor???? This is the only ignition related thing I haven't tried to solve a problem I'm...

    Resistor boxes

Can anyone tell me if the resistor box from an F22 is the same as a resistor box from an H22. I'm running a resistor box I got out off an OBD1 prelude S in my H22 civic. I've still got a bad bog at low rpm and I think I'm running slightly lean (or rich, honestly I haven't figured it out yet...
