i didn't want to dig into the factory paint. besides, i like them textured! it matches the black trim.

hes talking about your factory paint having orange peel, not the plasti-dip or whatever you used for black paint

you could be hard pressed to find cars that don't have it from the factory. i don't mind it. hopefully a nice cut and buff in the future will fix it though.

factory paint has gone to shit since the switch to waterbase
i go to the new car shows every year and even high end cars have shit paint now
its sad really

Before you bought this did you test-drive the FR-S at least for shits and giggles?

i drove the FR-S while i was waiting for the V to get detailed. its not great, to me. it suffers from toyotas patented ETC lag system.

What about the balance, braking, weight transfer, throttle lift in turns, etc? Those are the big things for me. ETC lag is majorly at fault in gear shift situations I've found only. Also hasn't been brought up at all in any of the reviews I've scoured.

the lag is a big deal to me. it is present in mostly all ETC toyotas. being a scion owner im surprised you dont notice... but then again the 2.4L Xrs corollas don't seem to have it as bad as the 1.8L ones, the yaris, etc

i didnt have a chance to really romp the car. but it handled OK. it feels cheap inside. for the price, a genesis seems a better buy.

yesterday i picked up this scosche adapter at walmart for $20 it is almost perfect. need to heat up and bend the phone clamps a little bit it is very tight with my iPhone case otherwise, solid! no need to mark up the interior :)

today my OEM guards are installed. they are tiny but i like them! worst case scenario i'll get a pair of cheapies from the parts store and put them over the OE guard.

Wow... those are some really small mud guards... cute lol. That means it's time to slam the car so they are more functional. :p

i was thinking rallyarmor to put in front of them but there is nowhere to attach them on the inside of the wheel well. the mudflaps have a 3rd screw that is underneath the car. well i could make a bracket easy enough....

but the $7 pair i bought from the parts store for the mirage would work fine here. just need another pair. drill 2 holes in them and bolt them to the existing flaps.

i see about one a week. usually style package. not many techs around. the DCT trans is a 50/50 shot at this stage in the game. they did not even include it as an option on the turbo.

so i picked up some OE door striker covers for that "cleaner" look.

and got the car tinted 50% all but the windshield. its a minimal difference inside but outside its just dark enough.

tint looks good. I dont know how I feel about the grey rear badge against the "chrome" one up front. you got any ideas/plans/thoughts for some customization up there?

Doing the same with chrome up front. Also wrapping the red dogbone surrounding the license plate with black matte vinyl.
