i have 96 gsr with some mods...lookin for turbo and wondering how much i can boost on stock internals and wanting to know what to upgrade to boost around 15-20 psi
sleeved block and new pistons i would do that b4 i put boost on my you'll need to run either hondata and neptune ecu but you'll blow your blow if your gonna go 15-20 lbs. of boost but i would atleast put new piston in to lower the compression
to answer your first question, you can run about 6-8psi with a piggyback fmu or afc. with a good tune prolly 10-12, but that's prolly ppushing it.
I run my jrsc at 6psi with just an fmu and a boost timing controller, i have had no problems in over 8 months, turbo is a different beast over s/c tho.
i really don't agree my friend had piston and rods and a good tune running 15 bls. of boost and blew his block don't risk it cause your going to pay for in the long run if you want something reliable i would go with a sleeved block and pistons
it's going to be whatever you want if you want more advice i would ask kenny tran at Jotech Motor Sports - || Home Page || and see what he tells you or go to T1 Race Development and ask then tony palo what to do one of the best tuners in the country cause i guaranty they will tell you to sleeve the block
