(anybody intelligent enough to know about Bauhaus... Kudos).
I know that a lot of people without doing the research just think "Oh well Buell is just another Harley Davidson Brand..." What they don't take into consideration is that Erik Buell was a Professional Super Sport racer and was hired BY Harley Davidson to develop a line of sportbikes.
Also if you look further into the current DESIGN features of a Buell you would notice how a Buell bike follows a Bauhaus design principle "Form follows function" (anybody intelligent enough to know about Bauhaus... Kudos) The motorcycles are simply designed to keep the weight centered from front to rear/ side to side/ and top to bottom. Quite possibly one of the most brilliant things to have happen in motorcycle design.
Honestly I think a lot of people are too stuck on Japanese Sports Bikes to take a second look at what might also be out there. For those of you... that's fine. But without proper research I wouldn't suggest bad mouthing a name just because of it's affiliates.
Buells are fucking garbage. They don't handle all that great, have almost no racing background (in fact, I don't think I've EVER seen a Buell in any pro/am racing such as MotoGP, AMA, CMRA, etc), are unreliable (belt drive? ninja please), and above all they look like balls.
Put me on a track on my Yamaha (a.k.a. Japanese Sport Bike that everyone's so stuck on) next to you on a Buell, and I guarantee you'll rethink your whole 'front-back-side-to-side' theory.
There's a reason everyone's so 'stuck on' Jap bikes...because they're superior. Look at professional sportbike racing...who's on top? Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki...sometimes even Ducati (somehow).
Buell? please.
i'm waiting to find out more about how well the electronic dampening works out for them.I'm really looking into the honda CBR 1000rr. Reading the spec sheets makes my jaw drop. So much technology in such a small package.. Its amazing.
First off civicious... There is no need to get all hostile... I wasn't bad mouthing any Japanese Motorcycles... believe me I have looked into them as well... Great bikes... All I am saying is that Buells are a fun bike to ride and the design principles are solid.
Secondly, not once in my post did I say that Buell's were IN professional competition, all I said is that they were designed by someone who used to be a professional sports bike racer. So please don't take what I wrote out of context.
Third, there is no arguing the fact that a japanese bike would blow mine out of the water off the line or in a straight dash... But I would be willing to place money on the fact that through the corners, especially coming out of them, the Buell would have better responsiveness in the low-end torque. Plus I like the compact wheel base that the Buells have especially the XB12cg... perfect for someone my height... (6'2" if you care) it makes it easier to flick from side to side...
Go ahead and ride your Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, and Ducatti if you like... I encourage it. Have fun, and be safe... I will stick with my Buell and you can go balls to the wall and hopefully avoid an accident. I wouldn't want to see anything happen to my fellow riders. Me... I'm gonna take it along the Oregon coast and make love to the corners... See ya out there hopefully...
