I was just wondering what car you learned how to drive a manual trans. My friend says I suck at driving a manual but I was learning on a thunderbird SC (RWD, 300hp,342Tq) He learned on a civic <_< . I eventually got the hang of it after about a week (kinda still jerky) then sold the car to buy my sol. I just think it would of been a lot easier to learn on a small car the was FWD and less hp. Everytime I had to get on the gas i would spin tire then go a little sideways  . not the funnest thing to do when your learning.

I learned on my 1991 Geo Metro, my mom dropped it off at my work one day and said drive it home or walk. I drove it home, which was the first time I drove a manual on the streets.

I continued learning on my 1992 Ford Escort GT, and I'm still continuing on my 2000 Civic Si. :)

Now I refuse to drive an automatic. I do have a few exceptions of cars though that I would drive as automatics. :)

first drove it on a saturn...You guys won't beleive me but i never had a teacher and i drove it "perfect" the first time. It had to be the smoothest I've ever driven stick, shiftin at 3200 each time (shift indicator), and slowly releasing the clutch pedal while depressing the trhottle a little bit.

Completly different story with my 82 F-100, i couldnt drive that thing for shit, i was revvin that fucker to 4000 and slowly releasing the clutch before i could get it to move (this was 3 years later BTW)

1958 Studebaker 2 ton Dump truck....my first car....ahh that weird shifting pattern it had.

1992 Chev 1500 ext. cab w/ 4.3L
1994 Ford Stang. GT
1991 Honda HB

Thats all that I or my parents have owned but I learned on the chev, and it was hell...

95 nissan pickup, xe-v6.

drove the accord for 2 years, and now my civic :)

<-- will never own an auto *well, atleast in the near future*

lets see when I was a kid I was riding around on a peewee 50cc 3 speed bike with no clutch then some 4 wheelers then RM80 CR80 XR80 DR100 KX125 some 2 stroke 4 wheelers I drove around the yard/street in my dads 89 Civic LX then first real trip out on the road was in a Jeep wrangler then a few trucks some more civics then after I got my DL I picked up a Civic DX the one you all know about

I can't remember ever not knowing how to drive a stick

i learned on a 1973 VW Super Beetle. was my first car i owned back in high school.

worked at a detail shop in denver for years one day the boss and I went to pick up a toyota truck at len lyall chevy and he wanted a few beers so after the bar he puts me in the driver seat and is real nice until the first hill....he makes me hold it through a red w/out using the brakes, bumped the car behind me super soft [he didnt get out] once and learned more about engagement than I would have imagined was possible in two minutes......the rest of the drive was an absolute breeze and it convinced me someday that is how I will teach mine....no traffic of course.

learned on an 89 nissan pathfinder 4x4, which consequently is what im driving at the moment while my huge flaming piece of shit (aka civic) is sittin in the garage not running.
