Is there a reason why people driving dealer plated cars drive like complete jackasses?

Dude flew by me doing 90 in a 40 today going downtown. We got to a curve and he was doing 40-50+ when he noticed the cop sittin there. Cop moves up to go get him and he hammered it. Had to have been doing 90 again, he got to the next light and made a right down 4th street over to wells from Clinton where he was clocked and ended up getting away.

I tried to follow him, but I didn't feel like speeding at all, and he ran a redlight on Wells.

Anyone here work for a dealership and move cars between places like that?

This is the first time I've ever seen anyone evade and actually get away with it in a car, but why do they always seem to drive like 16 year old tools with something to prove? Is it because its not their car or are they all pompous jackasses?

it could have been a stolen plate...

    who knows.

the whole 'get to the next town' thing doesn't apply. that cop was just lazy. he has every right to persue and pull over in the next town so long as he calls it in.

I don't think the cop was lazy, there was just way too much traffic to just come flying out of a sidestreet around a curve like that. It was just a horrible spot to sit and clock people really, especially at noon.

I saw him go by down Clinton when I was on 4th street, I guess he couldn't pull out in time to keep him in sight.

cop made a safety call. probably too dangerous to chase. might have gotten the plate number though.

and often the dealer plates are used by people who take the cars home. this is why it sucks to buy a used car from a dealership. they are treated like rental cars.

maybe someone (one of the mechanics?) damn near got their hand cut off and the driver was trying to get them to the hospital

maybe they just got a call that their significant other was in a bad accident and were rushing to the hospital

maybe their significant other is pregnant and they just got the call they were going into labor and were rushing to the hospital

basically all im saying here is that while there is a very good chance that they were simply driving like assholes... it is not always the case... sometimes people do have legitimate reasons for driving considerably faster than you might see as reasonable

    ***
this is why it pisses me off when people play "speed limit enforcer" on the damn road
if im driving along and someone comes hauling ass up behind me and they look like they are in more of a hurry than i am... i let them by... at very least i can use them as a pace car and let them get the tickets... or i can continue on my happy way and not have to see or deal with them in a few moments once they are out of site
or i can sit there and run interference on them, and get in their way, try to slow them down, and inevitably piss them off, possibly ending up in a road rage incident, where depending on how much things escalate one of us very well may end up getting shot

If you want to enforce traffic laws you should become a cop, otherwise just let them be on their marry way.

It was a red Jetta GLI. and I wasn't being a traffic enforcer, nor did I ever try to slow him down. Considering there aren't any hospitals on that route and it was one guy in the car, he was just driving like a fucking tool. I see it day in and day out. People driving used cars from one dealership to the other to make the deal. I'm not pissed about it really, he drives like a tool and next time he won't be so fortunate. I was just wondering if anybody else noticed that the majority of dealer plated cars are driven like they're the get away cars for bank robberies 99.9% of the time.

white settlement to mesquite tx - Google Maps

you know what, i want to know why google maps all of a sudden doesnt show traffic times. cause that does take 2 hours not no 54 minutes. google is a lying hoe bag.

It literally took me an hour and a half to get from my apartment in mesquite to get to jamie's house.
