The sad part is, there are signs of urban decay in all the "before" pictures too. Things just got even worse. I thought about buying a $500 house, but ultimately I don't think Detroit is ever going to recover.

Those pictures don't do it justice. That would be a nice neighborhood before and after. I just recently read that the estimated cost of blight removal is $1.5 billion. It's just an insurmountable mess. There are a few beautiful neighborhoods that have historical value, but they are literally one street removed from the ghetto.
