More and more companies are ditching the big engines for smaller booster ones, much like what happened with chrysler and dsm in the 80s. Even ford jumped this way with the svo mustang for a bit.

bmw has ditched larger displacements for turbos on most of its line up for the future
rumors of the NSX replacement were originally v10 before being scrapped from the economy, and then re-rumored of a turbo 6 of some sort (not sure if thats remotely accurate)
and now, GM has rumored of the next (C7) vette going to a 3.0TT v8
