Only thing I like about dogs is they're generally big enough to make noise when they walk so you know they're right behind you.

Kittens, not so much. They've grown accustomed to basically following me everywhere, and for whatever reason I'm not used to it yet.

I went out to the kitchen to check on my pizza in the oven, put it back in for a few minutes more. I closed the oven door, turned around, took a step and punted Sammy across the kitchen floor. I heard his claws digging into the floor as he floated across it. Only thing that stopped the poor kitten was the refrigerator as I fell into the door frame and almost completely over.

I took a step and I kicked him with enough force to actually hurt my foot and pushed him a good 10 feet.

Its kinda funny now that I think about hearing his claws scrape across the floor, but poor kitten. :(

Are you used to walking around with cinder blocks attached your feet or something? That's one hell of a step you've got there.

Better than yappy little bastard dogs who bark at everything in the yard and any other dog at all. Not to mention the annoying never ending growling and barking at people when they walk down the street.

Nah, I'd still take the dog. At least they have character. Some cats are funny to watch but I've seen maybe two of them. Other than the interweb lolcats, f'em.

A golden retriever, sure. Other than that one breed I've yet to meet a dog I like or would consider for a pet.

Black labs are great pets too. Well pretty much the whole lab family. Pointers are great dogs but they like to jump on people and they are by no means a small dog.

ive got a greyhound and she is the best dog ive ever known or had. not messy or stinky, really calm, gentle and nice, obeys commands well, and just playful enough to be fun.

and ive definitely kicked the shit out of our cats before, they always get in the way when im trying to take a leak in the middle of the night.

i definitely prefer cats to dogs

with that said the biggest issue i generally see with dogs and cats is generally either, a lack of, or just piss poor training and socialization

most people do not put in enough time and effort into raising and interacting with their animal and making it into a good pet

they dont take the time to properly house train them, so they end up pissing and shitting all over the house
they get a high energy breed and dont exercise them often enough, so they end up being hyper and spazed out
they dont interact with them, so they have no personality and are not affectionate or pleasant to be around
they dont take the time to train them not to bark all the fucking time
they dont keep them properly groomed, so they end up looking like a mess, smelling like shit, and having health issues and requiring a lot of expensive vet treatment
they dont train them to stay out of areas they are not supposed to be in, so they end up climbing all over shit they are not supposed to be in or on

raising a pet is a lot like raising a kid, if you do a shitty job and dont put any effort into educating them and training them, sure you might get lucky and they might end up ok, but chances are they will end up fuck ups and wastes of space

Luckily for me, im not one of those jackasses. I take the time. But I just don't see it going as easily for a cat as a dog. They seem to prefer antisocialism. That is until they're hungry. Then they never stfu!

Thats the hardest one. Our cat is going on 14 years old, and i think its too late to quell that bitching for food (even when he has a full fucking bowl). Other than that, i've got no issues with our cat and cats in general.......except im allergic. Im allergic to dogs too, so its not a better solution either. As long as we clean the sheets regularly its not too big of a deal. And then i have to wash my hands IMMEDIATELY after petting a cat or dog. I digress.

Cats being difficult to train is a complete and total misnomer. Our cat is very well trained you just have to treat them like a dog. The only thing I've noticed that's different is you can't use negative reinforcement with a cat. If it pisses on the carpet pushing it's nose into the piss doesn't work. Spanking doesn't work. You just have to throw him in the litter box. Same thing seemed to work for hair balls. This sounds mean, but if we can hear the cat about to throw up on the carpet we actually pick him up and put him in the kitchen (tile floor). After we continued to do that for about a year he got the idea. I haven't had to clean a hairball off the carpet yet in the new apartment. I just pickup the majority with a paper towel and swiffer wet ftw.

I do want a jack russel when we get a house but my work schedule is such that i CANNOT keep a jack russel in check and I like my toys to be in one piece. If i could get a normal 9-5 I'd probably get one the day i bought a house.

if you want a good pet, get a dragon. a real, fire breathing dragon. they are tough as shit, they can usually fly, and are great for home defense.

what the fuck is a cat or dog going to do? dogs yip at everything, piss and shit everywhere, and basically act retarded.

cats are like having a woman who is always on her period. they are moody, strut around like they own the joint, and tear shit up out of principle. fuck 'em both.

Cats shit in the house. I don't care if its in a box and you clean it every hour on the hour.. Your house will still smell like cat shit.

They destroy furniture. Yes, you can train them out of it. Yes, you also own a piece of trophy furniture that has the corner shredded to hell by said trained cat.

Cats don't give a flying fuck about you. The three mindsets of a cat are: "Feed me". "Pet me". And their favorite.. "Fuck off"

Cats are retarded. Now someone will now post a video of a cat doing calculus. I don't care. Just to be fair, I'll say 99.99% of cats are completely retarded, and .01% can do a nifty trick.

If you live on a ranch or a farm and have a mouse issue, fine. Cats serve a purpose. Other than that, they smell bad and are moochers. And don't tell me they don't smell bad, Mr. "house smells like cat shit and you don't realize it". All your guests do.

Dogs will shit in your house as well, unfortunately then you don't have a scoop and litter that sticks to it and really kills the smell pretty easily to top it off. A dogs three moods are "feed me" "play with me" and "fuck off".

Only difference is I've never seen a cat barking at leaves blowing across the yard when I have a migraine already.

Ever have a dog in "fuck off" mode?

I never have.. I could yank all my dog's teeth out and punt him into the grand canyon and he would come back with his tail wagging. Dogs adore people. They live to please the "pack leader". Hopefully that is you. And they don't shit in the house on a daily basis. Maybe twice a year when they get sick or something.

A cat will shit in your house every day, multiple times a day. That just isn't right.

How about a cat that sprays around the house. That shit is rediculous. Another thing dogs dont do. My dog shit in the house once or twice. And as Phyre said, he was sick. But honestly the only annoying thing he did was get into the trash can. No matter how many times I shoved his face in it and smacked the hell out of him a couple months later he'd smell something he had to have I guess. But that was a minor annoyance and honestly it'd have me laughing as I had to chase him around the house because he knew he did wrong before I even noticed.
