more torque

    as you may have read i havea rover 216 with the D16A6 engine, i want some more torque as when motorway crusing i really have to plan well in advance any overtaking im doing. how can i improve torque (preferebly cheaply)

    Nitrous $500 55lb/tq


    Turbo/Supercharger $1500 75lb/tq

    I would get a V8 if your looking for torque (that was a half serious/half smart ass comment).

    Larger bore and or forced induction willl help you out.

    B16 does not = torque

    LS vtec more torque

    i already have a short ram intake and the timing is set to 18 deg advanced over btdc

    Cheap?

    Turbocharge
    Higher compression pistons
    VTEC head (just more high end power, not really low end torque)
    Swap camshaft

    i'd say FI is your best bet on more torque. look into superchargers...instant torque and instant throttle response = mad torque...nitrouse isn't an everyday thing just to put some input on it!
