The choice was very hard but it had to be a superbike, and I like all the main Japanese companies such as Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda and Kawasaki. Gixxers are the fastest from factory, Kawasaki and Honda just came out with some mean babies as well, Yamaha has the best styles... what to do?

So there I am at my local bike dealership talking to my good friend that works in Service (Ducati certified mechanic).

As soon he saw me he tells me something along the lines of: "look what we just got in man"... pointing at a beautiful, Yellow '99 Ducati 748S, BONE STOCK, IMMACULATE, ready to be serviced.

Long story short, that was it, I knew it.

I really wanted a new bike, but since this one was so immaculate and well kept, since the previous owner that traded it in was a super cool guy and since I got such a great deal on it, I made my decision.

So, without keeping you guys reading any longer, enjoy...!

I love my Duc's torque, remember guys, this bike is a V-twin, not a 4 cyl like R6/R1, Gixxers etc, so it has loads of low end torque just like V8s do when we are talking about cars.
Ducati's are known for not being the fastest high-revving, top-end performers (V8 analogy applies again) if compared to some of their Japanese cousins, they are also known to be kinda uncomfortable when ridden, due to the fact that the seats warm up a lot since the pipes are routed that way, they have a dry clutch which is harder to squeeze and the position... but the positive side is that it out-handles anything, it sounds mean and it's original. When I go to shows/hangouts, I constantly hear people mumbling something like "look, a Ducati" and "look at that single-sided swing arm" etc... kinda feels good since I never received too much attention before.

Well, that's about it guys, just wanted to share with you my new pride and joy.

Let me know what you think!

Oh, and any suggestions on what to name her?

DUde, you should easily still be hanging with the big boys and japanese bikes.

And if I had a choice, I would definitely get a hypersport like you did, best looking ducati IMHO.

My first mods are gonna be:

    - Racing Air Filter
    - Recored Slip-ons (stock mufflers without restrictions and polished)
    - Turn signal eliminator Kit (builds turning signals into tail light assembly)
    - 40T rear sproket (easier to pop wheelies :D )

first thing to do is learn to ride it .....
even if youve been riding for a while all bikes are a little different with different attitudes....ducks are VERY different
ducks also tend to inspire over confidence (they make you feel like you can do shit you cant do... thats not a good spot to be in)

as for the valves.... let the bike warm up compleatly then briefly cover the exhaust (cover your hands with something so you dont burn the shit out of yourself) so you can only hear the engine... listen for excessive tappin..... you only need to cover the exhaust for a few seconds... just long enough to listen for the tapping

 I would never ride without a helmet, what do you think I am, stupid? .. Wait dont answer that question. And the spoke wheel will probably be my next mod :D
But i probably wont get to take advantage of it until im comfortable. But i might get a little anxious

Absolutly, I am aware NOW that ducks are very different for all other bikes, espeically my previous bike, and I will try nothing even moderatly dangerous until i am 110% comfortable with it.

This rims are staying, i agree, they are sexy :)

I got her for $6250 talked down from $7500, which I think was a pretty good deal.

Jeffie, I highly suggest you go and test drive one of these suckas. They are insane. I always though a bike is a bike, but not until you've driven a duck. I promise you will make your mind up by the time you leave the lot.

Yeah I hear ya, having a bike sit in your garage is so tempting to just jump on. But with a tire like that its like suicide. BTW, what you wrappin them in?
