So I just went to the REF today...got my little engine certified for my car, and the REF informs me that I "lucked-out"...Asked him what he meant, and he told me about a new law.

A JDM engine in a USDM car now has to be the EXACT same engine that the car came with. I.E. An HF CRX came with a 1.5. I have a 1.6 ZC in mine. He said I almost didn't pass because of that, but because I had been there twice before the law trying to get to pass, he let it slide, and gave me my fantastical sticker. I believe the law used to be, if you had, say, a CRX and wanted to put a JDM engine in it, as long as the same counter USDM engine was offered, it was legal. Now it is model specific. So HF HAS to have a 1.5 if it is a JDM motor. Not sure about USDM swaps though. Lame. Good thing I'm moving the Nevada.

Unless you are going to be living in Vegas or in Reno, there are no emissions or inspections--that is why I left my CRX registered in Nevada instead of transfering it to Cali.

I'm moving to Vegas...I've been trying to figure out the laws out there. Do they ckec emmisions and do inspections? If so, could I just go outside of Vegas and get it done, then go back?

In texas you can't put say a 94 F22b1 in a 97 acccord, it has to be the same or newer engine that was in the car... its lame because I can't switch to OBD I because that stopped in 95, and I have a 97

I wouldn't even bother swapping the vin plate, just put some papers on the dashboard with one that happens to cover the last part of the vin.
