So I just went to the REF today...got my little engine certified for my car, and the REF informs me that I "lucked-out"...Asked him what he meant, and he told me about a new law.
A JDM engine in a USDM car now has to be the EXACT same engine that the car came with. I.E. An HF CRX came with a 1.5. I have a 1.6 ZC in mine. He said I almost didn't pass because of that, but because I had been there twice before the law trying to get to pass, he let it slide, and gave me my fantastical sticker. I believe the law used to be, if you had, say, a CRX and wanted to put a JDM engine in it, as long as the same counter USDM engine was offered, it was legal. Now it is model specific. So HF HAS to have a 1.5 if it is a JDM motor. Not sure about USDM swaps though. Lame. Good thing I'm moving the Nevada.
