I dont really enderstand how chipped ecus help performance. Is it possible for someone to give the break down on programmed ecus or chipped ecus help performance

The chip in your ecu controls everything. mainly a new chip if you get the right one. not one of those HOMO Mugen chips or something off ebay. All those chips do is dump more fuel into your engine. If you get the right chip however, or even a stand alone unit. IE hondata, uberdata.. You can tune everything just how you want it. If you do it right you can pull every bit of hourse power out of your motor. Just member Dont get a knock off chip. Shill out the extra clams and do it right! no point in doing it twice

the basic run down is this:

on a stock motor, theres really no point. the oem computer is programmed to perform good on those setups.

i/h/e, again, not really a point... the oem program is still fine.

but once you start doing cams, intake manifolds, upping compression, or boosting, the oem fuel and ignition maps are not setup for such things.
the chip basically gives you a NEW map that will allow the ecu to control the ignition and fuel maps properly.

like pills said, pgmfi will give you way more info... but if your sotck, or just bolt ones, its not really worth it.
