problems at the Apartment

    Well I had the manager come over today cause someone tried to break into my apartment, the manager is gonna have someone repair the window and actually make it stronger then it was. I have insurance on my stuff anyways but who wants to get robbed?

    Then I asked her how her day went, little did I know what I would hear would piss me off worse.

    Our apartment complex forms and "L" if you will on a corner of two streets. at the apex of the corner is a square lot, the space not covered in the aforementioned "L" shape. You getting that?

    Well someone purchased the lot and wants to put in a mini mart, that's cool, no more driving for beer. Problem is they're puting the back of the store (which will be built in an "L" shape wrapping around the corner) to the street. Couple that with the fense line of the apartment property and you have this perfect little box of a parking lot for low lives to hang in at night when the store is closed and the lights are off. It's also about 100yrds from my S14.

    And since the city wouldn't allow them to take down these two big ass tress in the lot, and they're building the store so close to the street, there is no place to put the parking lot.

    Claiming that the interances to the apartment complex are "city easements" they ripped down the landlord's fense, came 4' across the property line, ripped a dosen bushes out of the ground and ruptured the waterline which they capped off effectivly ruining the irigation system in the apartments. It actually looks much worse then that but that's the best way to describe it. This will allow them to pave the whole thing so that people comming to the market CAN PULL INTO MY FUCKING PARKING LOT SO THAT THEY CAN DRIVE INTO THE STORE'S FUCKING PARKING LOT!
    needless to say Cameron was mad...

    so a quick trip to the county website to print off zoning maps proving there are no easements on the property and now the manager loves me. The best part is the owner is a billionare, he wanted to sell the complex, and the buyers will be here in the morning to view it.....

    This should get interesting...

    Wait... what... they want to adjoin a residential parking lot to a commercial parking lot and use the same entrance? Who the hell works in the city planning department in Albany there? Mentally handicapped kids with ADD?

    Yeah, that's horseshit. With the occupants of your building, you should all be able to fight that. If that doesn't work, plant coke in the developer's car and call the cops telling them you see his car hanging out at the elementary school all the time.


    That just about fixes all of my problems with people.

    Typical awnser, just surrender and leave, I think not

    not until I want to... I'm about to head down to the city and talk to people there to find out if they got the OK (which couldn't be as it's private land), I have a co worker on the planning comission and he says the whole thing doesn't sound right and he never heard of anything like that being approved...

    alright so I went down to the city /county offices and spoke with the planning and building people

    there was a private (not public) easement agreed upon by both lot owners when the apartments were built. The record says

    "Neither parts shall unreasonability obstruct pedestrian of vehicular traffic from the common area"

    I guess it was originally one plot of land that was divided, basically the owner decided "screw the tenants, this will save me $300,000" and agreed to it.

    Alright I did my part, now I'll move

    convince everyone in the building to do the same. screw your landlord into doing something about it.

    Put a shotgun on a mechanincal wooden arm, facing your window. Tie a trip wire to it, set it before you leave the house, and watch the hillarity ensue as you come home and are stuck picking up pieces of skull and brains all night !!!

    I would even taste the fuckers brains.....out of curiousity, of course.

    That's the shitty thing about apartments... the city/property owner can fuck with your shit but you cant fuck with theirs. I also love apartment living for the simple fact of no gas bill in the winter and very low electric rates. I'd just say fuck it and move out... I'd take your next months rent and move some where else. If they take you to court for a breach of lease at least you would have a good reason for fighting it...
