!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!i!
Guys, i need some convincing.

All my friends have fricken mustangs and they run low 14's high 13's with I/E/H and 373 gears.

I am seriously thinking of getting a 89 Notchback for $2k and dumping 2k more $ into it and having a quick car.

What do you think????

No, you see, i dont KNOW if it is the right choice.

If i get a stang, the civic can still be a daily driver, but if i dont get the stang, then i could turbo my B16A . . . :help:

Do it. You'll own every Honda ever built with brute force.

I'm eventually going to get myself a foxbody stang. I'll be putting on new heads, exhaust, intake, everything...basically just rebuilding everything sitting ontop of the engine block itself. After that, I'll be getting myself a Twin Turbo setup will net me at most low 13s.

better be running faster than 13 in a Mustang if you gonna twin turbocharge it...

It's going to be low boost, even though the 5.0 Fox's have forged pistons and shit, I don't want to spend the cash and then blow it up, besides that I still want it to be streetable. :)

6-7 psi for the streets, 10 if I ever had time for the track.

As you can see, the Foxbody GTs weren't that fast, I want the GT because the body looks better than a plain-jane LX (even though I love sleepers and they are perfect sleepers)

year/car/0-60/.25 mile
1988 Ford Mustang GT 6.4 15.0
1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 6.4 14.9
1991 Ford Mustang GT 7.3 15.6
1992 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 6.2 14.8

Low boost will definitely reach low to mid 13s

I say go for it... Everyone needs a rwd car, import or domestic. who cares if it's a ford, a car is a car. if you like it then there should be no problems when you work on it.

he said talk him outta it, not into it!!!

i've seen way to many mustangs blow up at the track, and even an escort.. i say go with something that can take the abuse you'll most definately give it, by going to the track.

bah. you saw the Escort blow his clutch...that can happen to any car.

You can either be a honda puppet the rest of your life, or you can go fast from the getgo and buy an American V8..... which means I still stand by my advice. BUY ONE BUY ONE!!!

4k- a mustang
4k - a full race kit.

you do the math.

A notchback wont be quick for 2g's. Its a nice start.

How quick you wanna be? i'd say get some nice headers, long tubes if you can, shorties just arent my thing. Get a good exhuast. Spintech has the freest flowing mufflers out at this time and I love their sound, especially on a ford.

Intake. BBK has a nice fenderwell CAI. Get a nice intake, i say the Trick Flow intake is what you will want. AFR 185 heads are very nice also. But if that is too much, get a King Cobra clutch and gearing. But your tranny is the weakest link in that car and the T-5 will go BOOM very quickly. Look into a Tremec 3550.

But for an awesome build all motor... afr 185 heads, trick flow intake, bbk TB, mass airflow sensor, cai, headers, exhuast, tremec 3550, king cobra clutch, 3.73's with limited slip, and a nice 150shot. (or run the shot on a stock motor.... 83 or 84 to 92 all come with forged pistons). IGet a nice Comp cam and valvetrain. Stuff can get expensive.

For a cheap build.. cobra intake, cobra heads, bolt ons and a 150 wet shot.

:withstupid:

What he said... i'm a do something like that...except the 150 shot will be a TT setup. :)

For 2 grand over the purchase price of a good condition 5 speed 87-93 coupe, I can put it squarely in the 12's all motor.

OR, buy a used S-Trim kit, and some slicks and hit 11's with a good driver.

Want proof? I got proof. This is my buddy shawn's car. VERY basic. His S0Trim was bought used for $1800, and he was running a STOCK engine from the TB to the oilpan. 11.8's on that setup. With long tubes, Heads and an edelbrock intake, he went 10.6's.

He recently traded the S trim and long tubes for this, though... He's expecting soem low 10's this year.

:worthy: to your buddy Shawns car.

Domes...THAT is the exact model/body I'm looking for myself. 12s all motor? 10s on S trim...what kinda boost is he pushing? :worthy:

Personally I'd walk everywhere I had to go before I bought a Mustang. :)

It's up to you in the end wether you want to get it or not, but personally I'd put the money into the Civic.
