I'm at work overseeing the decom of one of my buildings, we just took the sniffers and everything off the network. I'm hooked up straight from the switch to the fiber:

wow funny, i was just about to post on this....just bought a Motorola SGB6580 Gateway like 5 minutes ago and installed it, upgrade from the SBG900...ran a speed test with Cox..twice the speed as i was getting...was around 5upload and 10download

This thing seems to post the peak rate, not the average. My average is is probably in the 9 MB/s range. Too bad I only have Comcast to choose from.

seems E works at ESPN, or at least on their ISP.
