I need some help with this transmission. I got it under the impression it was a ls trans, but the input shaft bearing was worn out. So I crack the case open and wasnt surprised to find the input bearing was missing quite a few of its balls, I found them at the magnet, squashed into little metal curly fries. Thats nothing I can fix the bearing but I got curious and counted the teeth on the final drive gear. Its a 66 tooth count, thats a 4.40 FD and according to this guy Specnically Speaking: B-series Gear Ratio Guide + More! the LS trans didnt come with a 4.40, it came with a 4.266. This got me curious enough to count the teeth on both the mainshaft and the countershaft.... Results... Main Counter 1st 12 38 2nd 21 39 3rd 27 34 4th 31 29 5th 35 26 Final drive = 66 4.40 Can someone back this up....Im curious....if this is a B16 transmission 2nd gear info is correct, I counted the teeth on the counter shaft 3 times....
Dividing the teeth count on the counter shaft by the number of teeth on the mainshaft...I came up with an answer...Ls trans. Ratios are as follows 3.166 1.857 1.259 0.935 0.742 Futher research concluded this to be true. Apparently the b series link above had the wrong FD for the 90-91 S1.
Got it from a guy on Carolina Hondas web forum. He claimed it was good but apparently he doesnt know how to tell if a input shaft has a bad bearing. Why do you ask??
I thought maybe you got the beat up trans I sold on ebay. But I explained the issues with it. Just checking.
