Under $3000: The Race To Build Really Cheap Cars (TreeHugger)
i've seen faster lawn mowers.
those things will be too fucking slow to be safe. How the hell can you safely merge onto a highway at 17 mph?
thats why there are quoted as being made for russia, brazil, china, etc. big citys where they don't need to move fast. they are for narrow streets.
hey look, someone re-re-reinvented the VW beetle/mini cooper/Geo Metro
On that platform Hybrid and Solar techonologies could really thrive
does the name "Yugo" ring a bell ?
Outside of Yugo, the other Bricklin project, Cheri out of China is supposed to be a sub $7000 car as well.
The Yugo was a Fiat design that was badly built, and the Chery is a Chevy Spark clone.
The Dodge Hornet is a Chery.
I'm willing to bet Chery actually makes the Chevy Spark. Another case of 1990 automotive industry death
you get what you pay for.....
I'm still pimping a $1200 subaru leggy, a $2300 CRX, a $1400 260Z, a free 280Z.....
I fixed it for ya.
My dad was telling me about some of these cheap cars... If they work out, the Big 3 are done... For $3k, you can buy one, drive it for a year, and throw it away and get a new car. Thats $250/mo for a brand new car every year if you wanted...
