ok here is the situation. i bought a 95 integra a while back and it was a great car. then i wrecked it. so my friend sold me a 1994 prelude si with the h23 that had a rod knock. we pulled the engine apart and found that every rod bearing had spun. so here is my question. is it possible to swap the engine and tranny from the integra to the prelude? how hard is it to do this swap? another possibility is to put an f22a1 in it however i dont like the gear ratios in the prelude tranny. the grar ratios in the integra are perfect. is there any way to swap the trannys? will the integra tranny work with a f22a1? is there a place i can buy a different 5th gear that wouldnt make the prelude rev so high? any help would be appreciated.

    thanks
    josh

The swap will be difficult. You really don't want to be going from an H or F series motor to a B-series motor. The heavier Accord and Prelude chassis needs the extra torque from the F or H motors to get them moving. Plus, since you're going from a larger motor to a smaller one, you're going to need custom mounts, axles, etc. Nobody makes aftermarket mounts for that swap, so everything would have to be custom fabbed.

And no, the B-series Integra transmission will not bolt up to an F or H-series motor. They do make an adaptor plate that will allow it to work, but it's kind of pricey. Trying this swap is definately not worth it. You'd be better off going with another F-series or an H22/23. If you want a better transmission, look towards the JDM H22 tranny. It will be geared more aggressively than the F22 tranny, and it has an available LSD from the factory.

no the harness is not the same. the f22b1 motor is vtec....which the h23 is not. you can use the h23 harness you will just have to add in the vtec. that would be the easiest way imo. axles will be the same.

I think he was talking about dropping in an F22A1 though, which is not VTEC. In that case, he can just use the existing wiring harness. If it were me though, I'd at least go for another H23, or an H22 if you have the bucks to spend. The F22 will be the least powerful out of all three of the motors I just mentioned.

If you're into performance, I'd at least spring for an H23. If you're just looking to get the car running again, then the F22 will probably be your most cost-efficient choice.
