WTF IS GOING ON??? DSM guys please help!

So my GF just bought a 95 Eclipse and it has weird tranny issues. some times it runs fine with no problems but then it just kicks into limp mode (stuck in 2nd gear). I changed the fluid and filter, swapped shift noid, and input/output speed sensors. same thing keeps happening. Also it only happens in town and when driving slow on the freeway. I also pulled the tcu to try see if any "Caps" were leaking but the TCU is filled with some kind of red/orange gel....cant see shit

car shifts smooth and runs great it just keeps dropping into limp mode. Im out of ideas.

Almost all the time, replacing the TCU will fix the problem.

Should I buy used new or rebuilt?

Do you guys know were I can get one that wont do the same thing in a few months? or a reputable rebuilder? Seriously dont want to drop a lot of cash.

a buddy of mine's dealership in dallas sends computers here for repair. apparently does a good job cause they have been using em for at least the last 5 years.

sweet! Will have to give them a call, my sis ecu just took a dump and my GF's tcu might have the same problem! Oh the fun with DODGE!
