Here is a problem that I have.
Every week, about twice a week, I am in your state for 10 seconds.
Yes, 10 seconds. I cross the delaware in Port Jervis on 84 on my commute.
The eastbound side of the highway is in NJ for about 10 seconds. I'm gonna give you the run-down here:
The NY Safe Act was written quick and sloppy. In the NYSAFE act, it mentions that transportation of high capacity (Whatever that is, again - sloppy writing) through the state was a felony offense. Having more than 7 rounds in a magazine is a felony. Transporting into NY without FFL is a felony. The Federal safe transport rules were over-ridden. (This can't be done, and needs to be challenged in Federal court).
This means I can't bring a 10 round magazine into CT. At all. Ever. Period. My rights are gone.
But for 10 seconds on that trip, I am in NJ. It is, and has always been (Well, for about 20 years) illegal to possess hollow point bullets in NJ. For transportation and everything. That HAS been challenged in Federal Court and New Jersey won. It's a year for every bullet in possession. I normally carry 100 rounds.
Now, CAN I comply ? Sure. I have my 7 rounder .45 guns, an LCP and whatnot. I can buy ball ammo. I can even buy that semi FMJHP stuff. But for about an hour .. I'm a criminal through no fault of my own.
This stuff is legal in my destination and my source states.
