Guys I did a thing. The red Integra is gone and in it's place is a 1989 CRX. D15 block and transmission with a D16z6 head.
I'm freaking in love. The D15 gears are taller than Yao Ming and I can smell the clutch going out but ITS A REX. LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT IT.

    20160611_164126.jpg IMG952952.jpg

    Short term goals:
    Clutch/flywheel
    Get a drivers door glass
Get the car on a frame machine and measure the front

    Long term goals:
    Transmission with shorter gears
Rust repair, body repair and paint
MAYBE nitrous. Maybe. Probably not. But maybe.

Exedy replacement clutch ordered with a competition 12lb flywheel as of this afternoon. So I know nothing about D series which is why I jumped at the chance of owning one of these, if I wanted a transmission with better gearing for acceleration what should I look for (cable options and hydro options)?

Is a hydro conversion particularly difficult? I have a clutch pedal and master cylinder off a 2000 Civic EX I'm wondering if i could fabricate that in there with some brake line

I concur. That's what I did for the D-series engine that I'm stuffing into my 73 Civic. It's a bracket that looks like this and it allows you to operate a hydraulic clutch with a cable clutch pedal.

That looks pretty neat. I think I'm gonna feel out the cable clutch because I've never driven one but when the time comes I'm sure I'll end up going with the conversion kit

I hate to thread Jack but as soon as a d16a6 ror single cam zc pops up I'm committing to go into my 79 I'm tired of tinkering with a 1.2 liter , I've even also humored a JDM D15 non VTEC

A cable clutch is perfectly fine and you have a lot more feeling in the pedal I actually prefer them in the older chassis Hondas

There's nothing wrong with a cable clutch. only reason to change is to avoid paying big money for an ef Si tranny, z6 tranny's are everywhere but the mounts don't line up either, so, your cost is almost even when you're done with the conversion

If it didnt have a full 600$ exhaust I'd have my friend make a custom header to come out the bay. I'm gonna sand the carbon fiber hood and re clear it for now. I just wanna have fun with this build you know

The hood reference was at me LOL I used to be kind of notorious for driving around hoodless and my Mods consisted of zip ties and self tapping screws and whatever I can cut off with a Sawzall

So the Spectre cone filter makes a ton of noise and it's pretty annoying... should I get a full Injen setup or just a replacement filter?

only thing that will quiet it down is an airbox. a CAI will make it a tiny bit quieter.

Took the drum brakes apart last night lol had no idea what I was doing. I believe I adjusted it properly and the brakes still feel loose so next step is bleeding them. Clutch kit came in just waiting on my flywheel hopefully be here friday. I was looking at prices on a SI transmissions using car-parts.com (the site my dad uses to source parts for the shop) I found some as cheap as 150 and as expensive as 450. The closest one is over in Lakeland where my coworker commutes from and he might be able to pick it up for me. Gotta see if they'll move on the price and how much they're willing to move on the price ($400 listed)

UPDATE flywheel actually came in today could have it done as soon as tomorrow.

Yeah you will probably pay 400 on a good SI trans I'm also in the market for one in my motor swap for my 79 also pretty much any aluminum pipe with cone filter is going to be to be loud on your D series I personally would put a stock air box back on it with a drop-in filter
