I have a h23a vtec from the SiR wagon accord. I am looking to turbo it soon, and wanting to have around 350whp after build maybe more if possible. I plan to spend around 10k on this. Question is what all needs to be done? Since h23a vtec pistons and rods are longer in length than the H22 what pistons would I use? As far as the crank goes is there a way to make it handle higher stress?

I am building this as a safe build, and I want it to be safe as possible as I know I will have boost addiction as I do with vtec. Please tell me what all I should get to make this a safe build and would 12psi be to much boost?
 
sleeves, forged rods, pistons, crank should be fine, but they make aftermarket. seriously read up. the H is the same as any other motor when it comes to basic motor operation. same upgrades required.

the psi# is irrelevant. stick with your power goal. it's more about CFMs than PSI.
 
^ Werd. Focus on horse power, not PSI.

Aside from that, get some good rods and pistons, ARP everything, and all OEM bearings and gaskets. Your sleeves should be ok at 350hp, but I wouldn't go any higher than that.
 
well i building super safe, plus i want it built so if I want to get a more aggressve tune my motor can handle it. So i need sleeves, rods, and pistons... do I need to stroke it out? turbo cams and valves, springs, and retainers? Will injectors and stuff come with turbo kit or will i need to buy that also?
 
No need to stroke it. Cams, springs, and retainers will deffinitly make your goal easier to hit. Youll need to buy your injectors and fuel pump seperately.
 
try to buy your turbo kit in pieces. it can be much cheaper than a kit. avoid mostly all ebay turbo kits and anything xspower brand.
 
ok this is a little off the subject but iam currenlty doing a h22a vtec swap into my 92 prlude it has the h23a in it now. i looked high and low for the h23vtec but i was told it would not work because the ecu is different. they only came in auto. mine is a 5 speed. so how did you make this work? and on the subject those h23 vtecs come stock with 210hp. so it shouldnt be thsat hard to reach a 350hp goal with a turbo.

Well i also originally had h23a non vtec in motor. I wanted a unique motor replacement when mine blew. First off you don't nessesarily haveto have a manual ecu to make it run right. There are sites to show you how to convert the ecu to manual for any honda ecu. But I went a diff. route. I have a chipped ecu running a base map from speedfactoryracing.com they have dyno tuned that motor before and have the base map specs and everything. If you wanted to go more expensive you can use a hondata or aem piggyback and just dyno tune it from the obd2 h22 base map untill you have it almost right on. So the manual thing was not easy with a obd2 to obd1 ecu conversion connector was used. Only problem I have had was with dizzy wiring it up becuase on h23 non vtec the crank shaft postion sensor was located at the crank on the h23 vtec they are located inside the dizzy. I installed an external coil and robbed a connection off the wiring from crank wire(hence i used original h23 wiring harness) and got it all wried up and running. Vtec needed to be wired also but all hondas come wired for vtec you just need to run wires to the solonoid. Last problem encountered is the jdm motors do not come with vtec oil pressure sensors so I jumped a pin at my ecu from vtec oil prss sensor to the solonoid pin i believe) After this its been all right. I haven't had chance to test full potential of this motor as I believe my fuel pressure regulator has been going out now to bog out at idle as running rich. But when it ran off a chip from phearables.net I held with b16s easily which i feel was excellent due to fact of I have the F22 tranny longest gears. H22 would be a easier swap plus you canuse teh extra money in difference and buy performance parts.
