I'm bored at work so I went and actually found you some real numbers.

A 4WD CRV weighs in just over 3,200 lbs. A LX Sedan weighs in at just under 2,500. So we have a 700 pound difference. Well one has a D16, the other has a B20. Conservatively, moving from a D to a B is about 100lb difference. Now your LX weights 2,600. Not to mention the 4WD system. The difference between a 2WD and 4WD CRV are about 100lbs. So that is roughly what the system weighs. Your LX is now 2,700. You're adding a hatch, 250lbs. 2,950lb LX. There is still nothing to bolt that 4WD system to. You have to add support and strengthen the back of the LX. That is going to add weight. You want to use the CRV suspension. That is going to add weight. You want to add a skid plate, more weight.

As I said before, after you modify it, there will be negliable differences in the curb weight of the vehicles. And the B20 was thought to be under powered to move 3,200lbs.

Start with the CRV. You can always add lightness later. In any case, any structure you add to bolt the CRV hardware onto the Civic will likely weigh more than what was designed to be there (and was integrated into the unibody) in the first place on the CRV.

I concur, but I'd take the CRV and swap in a (easiest) B18C ITR (only 3 less lb-ft than the B20) or the H22A4, or whatever the Japanese version is, 220hp, from the Euro Accord Type R (H22A 1997-2001 Prelude Type S).

Adding all that shit to a Civic is an incredible amount of what the fuck why!?!?!
 
fount suspension and motor is a direct bolt on. if i swap rear floors between the two models and weld it in its all good. its really not that hard.

Another draw back with using the CRV is how tall the body is. very top heavy.

No it's not. It's close, but not all the stock mounts will not work.

I'm really enjoying how you came to a Honda specific site, populated with people who actually know about Hondas, and then you don't listen when a handful of us make valid points as to why you shouldn't do this. It doesn't even have to do with the cars. I could give 2 shits if you hack up a 4 door EK and a CRV. Never had one, never wanted one. It's just not a very intelligent use of your time.

Yesssssss add lightness. :D My CR-V build plan would have been lighter or very damn close to the weight of a Civic. Maybe not add lightness, but lose a ton of steel. :D :D :D
 
Anyways, i really dont want to argue about it. The b20 out of a 99 CRV fits with the CRV mounts the engine bays are the same. the CRV just has come sheet metal risers on top of the strut mounts to allow for taller fenders. The front end of my 99 CRV is the same sheet metal parts of the EK. measured when both engines were out. k frame is also the same.

The few differences are the radiator support and the control arms (longer). but because the mounting is all the same i can use the crv suspension in the ek.

Now that is laid to rest, back to the original point of this thread that so far only one person has grasped.

Anything in my set up that i need to change? so far its taller skinnier tires vs. wider.

I know this site is filled with honda "experts" i dont mean that in a rude way either, i am far from one but i know more than the basics. i know this is not a typical swap and yes it is going to take time. i dont mind it, i have the time. Its the same thing as putting a v8 into the civics. redicluous but possible.

I dont wanna tick anyone off on here either but give me a chance to succeed.
