Looking at buying this potentially cheap Type R project/resto, let me know what you guys think it's worth and what I should look for.

His ad states:

As the title states, I am considering selling/Parting my 1999 Integra Type R for . Car runs and drives great. engine is a bit tired but not bad, burns little oil but could use a refresh. Body is solid, little surface rust on passenger wheel well (see in picture) Body has dents and dings and is showing its age. could use a clean up and respray.

Also have tons of other ITR parts aside from the car
Jdm Front ends
5 lug conversions
98-01 USDM ITR front lips
Cold Air Intakes
RECARO Seats
ect

I Originally bought the car to make it into a track beast but plans have changed and looking to sell. Have tons of parts for it. Would prefer to sell complete but willing to consider parting out.

Car is mostly stock, parts only getting harder to find.

NOT looking to just give parts away at low ball prices so please dont waste your, or my time if your not serious.

feel free to email with questions and offers

Well its the roughest looking R ive seen, besides a stripped theft recovery. Is it clean title? I thought that in 99 they only imported the type R in yellow and black?

He's in Canada so there may have been a 99 there... they skipped the 99 in the states

At the end of the day, it's an Integra. 90 out of 100 people are just going to think it's another 90s unibody compact car. If I pulled up next to one, I'd take a second look, but it wouldn't be one that I hung around to talk to its owner.

It does look like a cool project, but there's definitely a ton of work to be done there before I'd drive it.

Looks like a clapped out POS. Would avoid.

edit: I mean, at the end of the day, it comes down to "How badly do you want to be able to say 'I have a 'Real' Type-R' ? IMO, there isn't anything on that car that would make it worth any more than a 'decently nice' GSR or swapped GS/LS...and, I mean, it's still an ugly-headlight Type-R. Deep down inside, there's still part of me that wants a JDM-front Integra...but, the ONLY reason I could understand to buy this particular bucket is 'I absolutely, positively, HAVE to have an R-chassis, and cannot possibly afford any other one but this one'.

It's your money.

After a lengthy discussion with the owner it fell through, he believes the shell is worth 2800 and the motor is worth 3000. I don't see a 6000 car there hahaha. I would probably buy it for half that. I'm still picking away at my GSR 4 door project but I'm entertaining something different. But for that I can build a type r rapist 4 door for less than that with the parts I already have

Yeah totally not worth it. Once you rework the suspension and start engine mods you're way beyond Type-R performance anyway.

you dodged a bullet. That is a money pit

By that logic, if I strip my RS down to a shell, it's worth the same $2,800. Oh wait, I'd have to slap on some decals.

Integra shells are worth $1,000. Period. Additional parts on the shell are the only things that would raise the price.

I do think a legit Type R would be a decent long term investment that would be worth more in 10-15 years. Well....if the price is right. I do think a Type R documented shell will become more and more desirable....even though it's the same as an RS....documented will be worth something better some day.

Salvage yard pictures.....hmmmm. I really doubt it was "his car" and he actually had any plans for it.....other than to flip it. Clean Title? I'm thinking probably not.

The rpm gauge....why is there so much red? I may be wrong because it's hard to see but my memory tells me the Type R gauge starts redlining around 8500. At this point, there are enough wanna be clones out there, so it makes me skeptical.

He claims the motor is tired but thinks its worth $3k? Guessing he is adding trans value too. But still, that price seems too high.

I know we love these cars, but they're not 60s era muscle. I don't think they'll really hold or increase in value. They will be like Yugos or Corvairs. A few kooks will love them to death, the majority just won't get it.

For the most part, I can agree with your claim. I just figure the numbers built and such will lead to them being desirable. Similar to many muscle cars from the late 60's and early 70's. Many of them had certain versions/options that are very sought after. Matching to the VIN and such. Hell....Hurst Rent a Car Shelby Cobras have a crazy value. Who would of thought a rented car would be desirable? But, once again, numbers built play a huge role in value.

60s era muscle amazes me. I can afford a V8 coupe/fastback now, but change the trim, color, and journey to me (barn find/original/numbers matching, etc.) and I couldn't touch it with what I've made lifetime.
