Any thoughts, tips, or advice for a newb? Different sanctioning bodies but I imagine the same basic idea..Not SCCA but did a bunch of TT with NASA.
Usually 3rd sessions is the session you want to go for your best time.
Make sure you have enough fuel to make weight. I once went nearly empty at laguna and was 5lbs underweight and disqualified for that session.
Pay close attention to which mods you do and which bump you in class. Sometimes silly mods which you wouldn't think account for much bump you into the next class making competition difficult. Tires and brakes are the mods which are best to spend points on.
You will grid based on your lap times, so don't hold back too much in earlier sessions as you'll want to grid ahead of traffic if possible.
If you are unable to get by traffic, I suggest a hot pit to get some space. You'll toss away that one lap but you'll have an opportunity for a run with no traffic.
I suggest a hardwired transponder vs a re-chargable one. I've seen peoples transponder batteries die during a session; if that happens they can't collect your time.
The GLoc pads did great on track, pretty amazing when you can out-brake two GT3s with competent drivers in a 3,800 lb car lol. There's ~3,600 miles and 6 track days complete since I bought it in February. I corded my NT01s after 3 days and ~1,500 miles, so...
