Got the diff fluid changed at 27k. Just short of 3yr or 30k service. Still looked new.

got my 30k service at the dealer, which included brake and clutch bleeding as well as a recall software update for the rear camera.

Service bulletin Mazda parts! glue in soft top inner fabric retention clips… now the inner fabric will stay in the channel

Ayla aced her license test last weekend, and after a week of waiting for the stupid RMV snail mail authentication code we got her paid up and licensed yesterday. added her to the gti today. made her drive me to walmart for some coffee creamer ;)

she will be commuting to school at end of september, so now we are on the lookout for a 7-10k beater with a manual. probably a jetta, accent, mirage, fit or sonic.

so since the gti got the camera recall update, it has worked worse. the system will freeze and reboot sometimes when the camera is activated, especially if it has just turned on. my wireless carplay dongle has not been working well either. i left it unplugged thinking it may be causing the camera trouble but it is not. there is a firmware update available for the dongle i may attempt... this weekend it did an OTA update for the gps (for calling home to vw, and reporting in the myvw app).

also just short of 30k now...

We have procured Ayla a vehicle. It’s a 14 Jetta S manual with 82k miles. We were looking at 08-09 Fits and this was just a few hundred bucks more. Personally i feel it’s a better vehicle, and ultimately she wanted a Jetta.

well since the camera and more recently the telematics ota "telling on me" gps update my wireless carplay dongle ceased to function properly. i have updated its firmware from my laptop with no luck.

ive been using the wired carplay and its actually been a much better experience. sucks to have to plug in but it works well.

still dealing with the camera not showing up on screen through. otherwise the car has been reliable and compliant.

ayla has been driving it around too, while we wait for the used car dealer to finish up with the jetta, it has a misfire and the shop they use has been "busy". decent communication and its not really a big deal if it takes a little extra time its a nice car. she has tech school orientation on thursday :)

Well the battery was dead due to the detailer leaving the lights on, they shoved a new battery in it yesterday and we picked it up today.

Engine bay cleaned up as well as all the rubber and sills around the car. Installed the backup cam just need a fuse tap for up front. Tomorrow we will try polishing :)
