My 88 Civic is aggravating the hell out of me. The car runs and drives great! But on occassion, after sitting overnight, the car will crank but won't start. The fuel injected carb seems to get flooded. The smell of fuel is thick....After several attempts the car will finally start, but run really rough. After idleling for several minutes, the car would finally run smooth, and at this time able to drive.....This happens atleast once a week.....Anyone fimiliar with this problem?

Maybe one of the injectors are stuck open? When it finally gets started, does it spew out black smoke?

Is it only when the car is sitting overnight or just cold starts in general?

is the engine the stock one that came in the car? from the sound of it, being carb. it may be OLD,lol. time to do a tune up and swap out some things.

Well, the 88s weren't actually carbureted, they had throttle-body injection(two injectors only; DPFI).
