i would guess the trans bellhousing where the clutch/pp is.

do you have free-floating wrist pins?

CTR replica OE type pistons in the bottom end. ARP rod bolts. Rest is stock.

I would search through the bottom end for something stuck in there and find out what it is before you try to fire it up... Don't want to see this thing back down again due to a fragment roaming around the bottom end...

I don't want to pull the head off again to pull pistons out. :( Compression is good and it looks ok from the bottom of the piston..

Got her back together and started last night.

Still makes this 'noise' that we THOUGHT was a spun main. I'm guessing now clutch, it's got to be coming out of the bell housing.. Now to pulling the tranny.. uggggg....

Put a broom handle or pry bar up to the tranny and put your ear to the other end to hear the noise better before you pull it..

why would it have to be a long screwdriver?
the tranny is big, there are plenty of angles to hit it from.

and no, i dont mean that as a sexual innuendo or pun.

lol... Sorry my brain is still recovering, I was thinking reaching from the top and not having to stick your head down into the engine bay...

ya, tranny is close enough.

Tried that trick and it didn't help. I am quite certain it is coming from the tranny area. Going to open her up tonight.

word...

You think that could explain my loss of power?

Spoke to my buddy, he definitely thinks it could explain the loss of power. It looks pretty bad, i need a new flywheel. Parts of the flywheel melted to the crank. Chiseling it off now. Looks like it was being dragged pretty bad.
