OK guys i am going to look at a prelude today and i want to check the compression. it has an h22 in it but the it has high miles so i wanted to do a compression test before i take it home. what should the numbers read? 220? thanks guys

there's no set number on what it should read. the thing to look for is a variance in one or more cylinders.

If you get 210 220 220 210 its good.
if you get 220 5 200 100 its shot.

ok so if i see like 180 180 180 180 i am ok? this motor has 180k on it. i am not looking to race it. i just want to drive it everyday

werd. It's the change from one to another that you don't want to see. And, (I don't like to start sentences with and) recheck if you get a fucked up number. I checked a friends' car recently, and found that one cylinder was very low. Like, 120,95,115,120. Finding that one cylinder was low, I like to recheck. That 95 rechecked at a 117 or something. It was fine.

It's just nice to recheck your work.
