Gsr Or Si Tranny For B18b

Is the GSR or SI tranny better for a LS motor? I heard the SI tranny is too short for the powerband of the LS but the GSR is perfect. SI tranny has short gears for acceleration but is it that much quicker then the GSR?

get the Si, or better, the ITR tranny and if you can afford it, get a limited slip diff.

Going NA you will want either a Si/ITR tranny, the problem with the Si is not LSD and also a smaller differential than 1.8 liter trannies. Go in this order for NA

factory trannies

1.JDM ITR (lsd)
2.USDM ITR (lsd)
3.JDM SiR (lsd)
4.USDM Si/DelSol both from DOhc's
4.JDM GSR (lsd)
5.USDM GSR

Better yet you can go with a this.

Type R tranny
Quaife 5.1 Final Drive
Spool differential
Custom Kaaz Gearing
but, i don't think you want to spend over 4k

don't go with anything else for a NA setup, the gearing is too long then.

why would you buy a type R tranny if you are going to tear everything out of it anyway??

So you can donate the guts of the ITR tranny to science (me) and we can find out if the hydro internals work in a cable bell housing.

Well you could part out the parts to get some funding back, I know the oem R gearing and lsd are worth some coin on the market, but i get your point

Donating to science is logical also.
