head gasket upside down??

ok im doin a head gasket on this 94 cx hatchaback, anyways i got the head off, i put on a 4 valve per cyliner head inplace of the two vpc. im going to install the head gasket and the old one was so beat to living hell beyond any recognition i cant use that as a guide, and in my manual it says look for "up" or "top" ive got a honda head gasket, and there are no freaking markings on it, since the head is symmetrical i cant decide what way to put it, call me an idiot but i just need to know so i can throw this old girl back together.

all i can see is a "1" stamped in the metal, i was assuming that meant cylinder 1 but im not sure, it says nothing in the manual!

There should only be one way that the head gasket will go on and have every thing line up. look closely at it. The right and left sides are a little diffrent. I wish i had a pic to show you, but you should be able to figure it out.

That one looks old and used in the pic, i wouldn't re-use that if i were you. Good Luck!
